Unless trying to get close in brings me close to trouble, then I'd try & get as close as I can.

And depends upon how well I'm hitting certain clubs, if there is that club I am consistent with I may try & get a layup, to a certain distance. But really its a ploy best left to the Pros. As you've still got to get that shot to layup at that perfect distance for the club you want to use to get onto the green.

If i ever have to lay ill try and get to a nice flat lie it took a few rounds to get my spots but it seems to work

We have a 350 yard par 4 but its very narrow at about 220 as the canal runs right down the left hand side,so i normally hit 5 iron down the left hand side aiming at the 150 marker,if any hole is tight or iam driving badly i just hit at 150 markers even if it means 8 iron 8 iron
