Was out and about oop North a couple of weeks ago and encountered a frost one morning in the Eden Valley. Lovely day for a cycle.First frost of the winter. Brrr.
Winter golf is just a different mindset I think. I tend to carry, take a few clubs out to lighten the bag, don't think about shots as much, just chop it round and try and get in under 3 hours. Not worried about the score as much since you're obviously going to get some bad lies here and there.Although I prefer the warmer and drier weather (not had much this year), I do love winter golf as long as it’s not raining.
Getting to the course when it’s dusky, getting ready, paying subs, teeing off with the sun just peeping over the horizon, a few putt lines/traces in the dew/frost. Lovely. Have to say, if it wasn’t for playing golf I’d pretty much hibernate during winter, so I try to embrace it.
Roll on May.
Because we are an island our weather is affected by the Atlantic so therefore a milder airstream keeps temps above the large land masses such as America.I find it interesting how considerably north of us you are and still get noticeably milder winters.
Not so crazy about needing a windbreaker in July, though.
Does this mean it's nearly time for an endless debate about courses being closed... People being told they don't know how to dress properly for winter golf,... Carrying and not carrying.. Roping off areas.. Folks leccy trolleys leaving tracks everywhere?
Can't wait..
