Frosty Mornings

First frost of the winter. Brrr.

Woohoo! that means it'll be getting warmer for me
Coincidently my golf last Sunday (28°) was the first time I'd felt warm on the course in what seems like months. I swear its been a long wet winter this year with temps regularly getting down to the low 20's on the course. I mean where's the fun in that!

Was out and about oop North a couple of weeks ago and encountered a frost one morning in the Eden Valley. Lovely day for a cycle.
Currently, East Herts is going from late summer to picknplace in a 48 hour period... 😫

Although I prefer the warmer and drier weather (not had much this year), I do love winter golf as long as it’s not raining.

Getting to the course when it’s dusky, getting ready, paying subs, teeing off with the sun just peeping over the horizon, a few putt lines/traces in the dew/frost. Lovely. Have to say, if it wasn’t for playing golf I’d pretty much hibernate during winter, so I try to embrace it.

Roll on May. 🤣

Winter golf is just a different mindset I think. I tend to carry, take a few clubs out to lighten the bag, don't think about shots as much, just chop it round and try and get in under 3 hours. Not worried about the score as much since you're obviously going to get some bad lies here and there.

Had a frost a couple of weeks ago down here in the South. Thin ice on car windscreen. Was over 20 degrees the following afternoon!
Noted it as 'first frost in early autumn though' 😉

Does this mean it's nearly time for an endless debate about courses being closed... People being told they don't know how to dress properly for winter golf,... Carrying and not carrying.. Roping off areas.. Folks leccy trolleys leaving tracks everywhere?
Can't wait.. 😉

100%. Noticed worm casts on Tuesday night and the leafs are already falling. Our conker trees started dropping 2-3 weeks ago.

I read old threads of this nature on a weekly basis through the summer, prevents me from getting too excited when the new ones are started around now.
