Talking to Missis tash earlier on re a jet ski I had pinched 20 yr ago. It has grated me ever since. I had it insured, the insurance company tried under valuing me ski and tried robbing me again.

anyway about 5-7 yr later our neighbour who is in the police force told me that the local plod had a drive up our street with a scrote who had been caught thieving and if he owned up other thefts his sentence would be reduced.

guess what he admitted to nicking me jet ski, but me neighbour who has now moved would not tell me who it was.
this rattled me because what if it was someone I knew.

my question is would it be possible to find out who it was, and who would I have to contact.

cheers guys an ladies.

I think you would likely come up against The Data Protection Act - on behalf of the 'scrote' - even if the info was still available - after 15-20 years!

Long time to hold a grudge!

Why do you want to know who stole it ?

Its just one of those things that has rankled me over the years it was my pride and joy. Bit like me clubs now. There's probably as much value in me clubs now as there was in me jet ski. The fact that they actually caught someone yet for some reason did not let me know, again rankles me. Every week in the local paper is a list of the local scrotes who have been caught and sentenced for said crimes. Yet I could not find out who it was. Why?

thing is if yer pride and joy clubs went missing how would you feel if you felt,it was someone from your club. That was the thing with jet ski theft, it was usually someone who dabbled in skis and knew there was a market all the bits and bobs on the skis. If yer clubs went missing they would not be sold job lot on ebay complete with bulldog head cover, they would be split down.

am assuming the same thing happened with me ski. Yet someone knows who it was/is.

To be honest the police should tell you. They now operate under the victims charter, this basically means that they should update the victim. Have you tried ringing them? You won't need a freedom of information application you would just need to supply them with info to search their systems.
It sounds like the offence has been taken into consideration.
If you reported a new crime now the police are meant to agree how, when and how much contact you have with them after being the victim of crime.
If someone has been dealt with at court it's in the public record anyway.

Cheers wuki me man, thing is it's not something I think about all day every day. Occasionally something pops up and reminds me about it and it sets me off on one.

Today it was "oh such and such has just been released from jail and they had a coming out party for him" and I remarked " it's a shame they dint have a found your jet ski party ". Swear words not included.

me daughter and her partner are both bobbies so I think I might be bending there ear over the next 24 hours.

Some chode broke in to my garage last year and ran off with a set of my golf clubs (I had 2 sets so it was ok).
I won't lie, whenever I see someone using the same bag I had I always look in to see what clubs they are using.
I would get very angry if I found the douche who stole my stuff.

Some times I think criminals get more protection than the public do. No doubt they'll be some reason they can't tell you. Especially if the criminal was under 18 when he/she did it!
