Just received a nice shiny new Blackberry from work, I mean for work. It has built in GPS so was looking around for a golf gps application. I found this one.

If your course isn't on there, you'll need to map it yourself using google maps. This is not too difficult, but given that the app is free, not a prob to do. I appreciate that mapping the course this way may not be exactly plum, but again, it's all for free. Loaded my course up last night, going to give it a try on Friday.

I finally got to try this out yesterday, only played the front nine last night, but it certainly made a difference to some of my club choices. Especially on a couple of the par three tees, and around the 100 yd mark, my brain definatley had a different perspective of 100 yds.......

Whilst it wasn't exact yardage, and didn't expect it to be with me mapping from google maps, I think it was a lot closer when using as opposed to my own eyes and brain.

I may try the CaddyAid version for comparison, although it's not technically free, you pay £9.99 per course download, and I'm not clear from their website whether that's per use of the course.
