Just seen on Twitter that a number of clubs in Yorkshire have set up agreements whereby of you are a member of one, you have full membership rights at the others.

This to me is a great idea and gives real added value to membership. I just wish my current club and my old club would try something similar, they are nearby, cost the same to join etc and it would allow me to play with my old playing partners at both clubs.

If this proved to be a success it would be a great model for other clubs to follow.

Full rights ? wow.. i suppose it would work if the fees, the courses & the facilities were equal . can see it being abused if not .

Good idea in theory tho be interesting to see how it pans out ..

It would certainly work around here. Stoke Rochford and Belton Park are of similar quality, similar cost, similar membership numbers etc. Sadly our current arrangement only allows us to play at the other at member guest rates mid week which is no real use to me as I play at weekends and always as a member guest anyway

We have had reciprocal arrangements for some time now with Lossiemouth, Crail, Lundin Links and The Burgess. Whilst this gives members the opportunity to play these courses, we cannot take guests on.

I suggested pretty much the same thing to the GM at my previous club with a links course a couple of hours away but he pretty much dismissed the idea without even looking into it. The course is a heathland so it would have given both sets of members the opportunity to play a different type of course but because of the distance, it would have meant that one club wasn't swamped by the other members all the time. I saw it as a win/win but the GM at my old place likes to do it all his own way.

Crown Golf run 4 or 5 courses local to me. They have offers where you get 8 or 10 rounds at other courses if you become a member at one. I was thinking about it last year, but decided against it as that only gives you freedom to play a different course once a month through March - Nov, which for me isn't ideal - I like to play a different course each week!

We have reciprocal agreements with approx 25 other clubs now via Smart golfer network. Some are local some arent but there are probably 8 or 9 within an hours drive and effectively when you go to any other club we get members rights (ie can book tee, sign in guests etc). Barely anyone uses it it seems but for those of us who do its a great perk and I prob get 10-15 free games at different courses throughout the year (its also useful when the weathers like it is currently as can go and play elsewhere when home course is shut!). Big difference to what you are talking about is its limited to how many times you can play each course each year.

we have reciprocal deals as many other have we a whole host of clubs, but nothing to compare to the ones mentioned here.
its actual 2 separate deals where you do get full memberships rights and competition entries etc to either 3 clubs (forest park cottingham skiby lakes) or (sandburn hall and cookridge). new idea be interesting to see how long it lasts.

My home course, Lingdale, has a reciprocal deal for £5 with numerous clubs around Leicestershire. A great deal, and very forward thinking. It may be a cheap green fee, but most players will stay for drinks/food, so revenue for the clubs involved.

We have reciprocals but nothing on such a grand scale. Ideal for Royal Ascot week when we're closed and for a change of scenery. Not sure about having full membership rights at more than one place. I guess if it works though

Whilst I like the idea of reciprocal golf how does the finance side off it work between the clubs if golfers are playing for free, lets say you join 1 club and in the 6 clubs 1 is considerably better than the rest and gets used the majority of time how are they benefitting as they are having to spend more on maintenance, A lot round here have a reciprocal deal allowing you to play for a £10 fee so at least the clubs are getting something.

Beat me to it! Some good course on ours such as stoke Rochford as per the op.

I'm wondering if there's a similar arrangement on the go in the Glasgow/Paisley area.I do remember 4/5 yrs ago going to play East Renf. on a Sunday a.m.when there was something on at Fereneze and it didn't cost a penny(played really well there too)
Must remember to ask at our place at weekend as I think it's a great idea!
Thinking some more....what about courses further away-links and parklands??Any one any ideas/knowledge??

We get thirteen other courses as a reciprocal, this is full 5 day access with after 11.00 access at weekends, although sometime we managed to blag it and get on as early as 9:30 at weekends

You get to play at Stoke for a fiver, we are down the road and our arrangement is £18 and only week days. As all of my rounds are with members and I pay that anyway it is not a massive benefit.
