Hi all,

This month, we want to know what you consider to be the hardest shot in golf, and why. If the one you have most trouble with isn't on the list, select 'other' and let us know what it is, and why, below.

Hope everyone is well,

Nick

Long bunker shot, of say 50 yds, for me: - most amateurs struggle enough as it is playing a short bunker shot with much control. The added distance with the need to hit closer to the ball, control swing length and speed, being brave enough to fully commit without decelerating is very difficult.

I am new at this sport, so what I find hard is probably easy for others. My putting isn't bad, my short play has improved, my driving doesn't have an awful lot of distance, but since I bought my new driver it is fairly straight. I am starting to hit the ball quite well from the fairway, albeit inconsistent, but anything out of the rough and I look like Steven Hawkin.

I also agree with the 1 st post. My first drive of the day always appears to be a massive slice.

Long bunker shot for me.

Most of the others you have choices but with a bunker 30-40 yards short of the pin you just have to take it on....and usually splash it 10 yards to an irritating comment of "well out" from your mate!

Relax, don't grip too tightly, don't swing too hard, it wont gain extra yards, don't think about the water, doh! Yes, it is long iron over water for me. Usually ends in a slice into the water as I am trying to make sure I get it over the water, trying to hit it too hard and a long iron / hybrid is my weakest club. More often than not I now wimp out and lay up.

Long bunker shot - I don't hit the ball first so these hardly ever go as I want. I'll either end up playing it as a green side bunker shot or I'll thin it around 2.3 miles over my target. All unintentional of course.

Long bunker shot for me. Your having to put a fair bit of effort in, but the difference between taking that little bit too much sand and a full on thin is minuscule, tiny, matter of millimetres.. But the outcome could be 50-60 yards difference!

Long iron over water. There is no bail out if it goes wrong. With the others the ball is still in play, and there's an opportunity to recover. If the long iron over water goes wrong its a penalty shot.

The reason I didn't go for that, despite it being very difficult, is that in my opinion it is a mentally difficult shot, but not necessarily a technically difficult shot.
It is just a normal iron shot (albeit with a long iron), but without the bail out zone if you miss hit. Where as the bunker shot is more difficult to get the correct contact/distance.

Chip off a bare lie for me. More of a psychological problem for me as I only remember the disasters. Long bunker shots don't really occur for me as my course only has deep green side pot bunkers.
