Ok time for a confession. I played really badly over the weekend both on the course and on the range. However by the end of the round on Sunday I thought it was coming back to me. As a result I'm sad to say I phoned in sick yesterday and played golf instead.

Am I alone to be condemmed to the pits of golfing hell (otherwise known as forever playing with JB Holmes) or has anyone ever pulled a sickie to play.

By the way it was still crap but I went on the practice ground afterwards and mangaed to get something going. Didn't have the bottle to phone in sick again today!

Shame on you Homer!!!!

I haven't but have been tempted to do so, I am lucky in that I finish work at 4.30 and the course is only 5mins down the road so have time for a quick round after work

Though if it came to it I think I would call in sick if I didn't have visits booked in (I work in the community with the elderly so if I called in sick they may not see anyone and I'd feel really gulity :o) :o

I too had a terrible weekend of golf, after my lesson I got cut in the first medal but moved back up the way after Sundays round.
I got up at 6 this morning and played 18 holes before I started work at 11 to get some confidence back, happily shot 79 off the back tee's so roll on the weekend.

I told all my customers I had a hospital appointment and I will be out of the office all day. It also covers the fact my phone was off.

Now I just have to stop myself from doing it more.

hope your gaffer (if you have one) doesn't lurk onto the forum.

A pal of mine inadevertantly grassed himself up once as he posted on a car forum that he had been philandering on a lads holiday in puerto banus. His brother in law (user of said forum) read the post and went straight to my pals mrs (his sister) and divorce was the result.

What happended to clubchamp07, one of his fellow members appeared to rumble him 'dissing' his club committee on this forum after the 'drinking in the clubhouse incident' and now he's no longer a forum registered user...Eeeek!
Are you still with us clubchamp, perhaps under a new guise?

Nothing wrong with the odd “sick” day off work Homer, I have pulled several.

Worst one when I went out to a Friday game with some mates, I saw one of the students I should have been teaching he was working in the pub and bunking off lectures and I was in said pub getting leathered. We came to a mutual agreement of keeping our mouths shut.

Is that true Birdieman? If it is oops!!

What also happened to Atticus Finch, Cossie………………. Where are you all? Was it something I said?

Believe it or not, I have never pulled a sickie even though it has been tempting. In fact I have not had a day off sick for 8 years solid now and every year that passes I find it harder to break the run and drag myself into work whatever the illness.

Oh I am surely going to Hell!!

Been in sales since 1990,took up Golf 1995,ergo.....so many more meetings out of the office.

Sadly in management now so less opportunity however my previous company had corporate membership at Wentworth,HEE HEE!

By the way,Hapless etc, also beware of text!! Got burned a couple of times that way.

Interesting point - you've got me pondering that one too.

I must have missed the 'rumbling' bit as all I seemed to see was the 'mumbling' bit. Will have to run a search and see where it got to.

Oh how many stories are tied up with this one thread. So how many have said that they're of playing golf when they're really 'playing away!' Ouch! Well seeing as we all appear to be devious sons of a gun when buying new clubs and taking sickies an'all.

As one who has played away and got caught (not since I've been with HID) it made me realise what a p**t I had been and what I was risking. I got well and truely busted and learnt a hard painful and expensive (financially and emotionally) lesson.

If you are in a relationship guys keep it in your trousers unless you are with the one you love (that means the wife/partner not the one you are shagging)

I wouldn't bunk off cos I know the law of sod would apply. Many moons ago I would rig the shifts so I could play at more convenient times. No one really minded, though. These days I work for myself so I'm just shooting myself in the foot - but I do get quite a few days off to play once all the things that need doing are done.

I've phoned in sick two days running.....but then again, I am. I'm either going to not see 40 or start getting better soon, I hope.

1600 mg ibuprofen 24 mg codeine 2500 mg paracetemol.....6 litres cold drinks per day!!! still feel like death....drugged up like a walking pharmacy and still only the odd 40 winks.....
