Thought the Billy Davies situation had been sorted and it would be down to him to earn his contract by getting us into the prem next season. Low and behold he is now sacked and we are looking at Steve McClaren !!!

What are your views ?

Worried for next season

Midnight...

Bit harsh on a guy who got them to the play offs and had they performed in the home leg arguably to the Final itself. No loyalty in football anymore. McClaren in only looking for a leg up into the English game and as soon as a premiership post comes up he'll dump Forest (assuming he joins) and bugger off

Obviously getting to the Play-offs isn't good enough. Dave Jones got the bullet from Cardiff last week or so as well.

What do the Chairmen want? A bloody miracle?

Davies is a great man manager and will go onto bigger and better clubs than Forest. I also echo what has been said above. You'll be worse off with your new chump in charge.

Davies will walk into another job and can walk away with his head held high.

Birmingham may be a ready made challenge for him.

McLaren gets a bad rap mainly for his England management but everyone who takes on the England job struggles.

I think McLaren would be a good appointment for Forest, he'll deflect any negative press from the players and Forest would likely get promoted as that's the kind of job he's good at, his record is pretty good and he has excellent experience.

He is not very likeable but that doesn't matter really.

BD also had alot of transfer dealings this season, hope you get a right monkey in charge!!

It's made this foxes fan a little happier after a crap golf weekend!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Billy D fan and can't thank him enough for the last two and a half seasons but if he's destined for "bigger and better things" why was he dumped from Derby after getting them promoted then out of management until he took over the mighty Reds nearly a year and a half later? :D

He's not a premiership calibre manager unfortunately and would have been dumped the same way Colin Calderwood was dumped when he gained us promotion back to the Championship.

There's no denying McClaren's club level management skills. He was Al's right hand man through the Scum's most successful period, he even got Middlesboro to the UEFA Cup final FFS!

Sure, he was terrible as England manager, but so is Fabio Capello and he was hardly a terrible club manager!

It's now been confirmed, so as a life-long Forest fan, I'll back the man and hope he does a good job and gets us back into the Premiership.

I also hope that having a "high profile" manager will mean he actually gets money to spend on keeping some of our 1st team players (which we dearly need!) and/or bringing in some half-decent signings.

Billy Davies has built up a pretty strong team with not alot of funds, and I'm hoping most of that team stays intact going into next season.

Stevie Mac's Red and White Army! :D

Oh and to all the Leicester fans (all two of you) we'll still take 6 points off you this season. :)

As football fans it does not take much to win us over, when BD started no one at Forest wanted him due to his Derby stint, however he won over most of the fans by getting us to the play offs. I wish the bloke luck in his next job .

Now SM could be a diffrent kettle of fish , if he does not get us to a least the play offs , he will never be given a chance by the fans. As said it took BD a while to win us all over , but in the end he did.

I think we will all have to get behind SM and pray he does well, and also hope he will be able to attract some good players and manage to keep the good ones that we already have.

I'll try and put aside the fact that I know SM well, but would think its highly likely that Forest will go up next year.

Steve's record at every Club, where he's been allowed to do what he's paid to do, ie Manage, is un-matched by any other British manager in recent years, bar Sir Alex.

Right hand man when MUFC take the Triple.

Middlesborough win a League Cup and Finalists of UEFA.

FC Twente - runners up 1st Season and Winners 2nd Season.

Wolfsburg- I cant comment on that, but suffice to say there is a helluva lot more to Steve's 'Departure' and the reasons why they parted, than will probably ever be public knowledge. The only thing I can say is that none of it detremental to Steve. Believe me.

I think its a fantastic appointment for Forest, and I know that Steve's glad to be back in UK, and Forest fans should be looking forward to 2011/12 season massively.

This post has cheered me up no end.

Next time you speak to him, let him know I supported his appointment all the way :D

But in all seriousness, as my post said, it pretty much agrees with everything you said. I'm not going to panic until he's been givne a chance to prove himself.
