For English footy fans only please.

I'm genuinely interested in percentages here, please answer honestly.

  • I'm an English footy fan who DOES support England.

    Votes: 62 87.3%
  • I'm an English footy fan who DOES NOT support England.

    Votes: 9 12.7%

  • Total voters
    71
So, we already have three people not supporting England, and interestingly, they are remaining anonymous!
Wierd that.

Ditto, I honestly can't understand why anyone English Football fan wouldn't support England?

Im not particularly fussed whether they win or lose but for certain my loyalty will be to which way ive bet and invariably thats against England so most of the time im "supporting" the opposition

I am English and dont support England - but you already know that Slime I have given my reasons and maybe if things change i may warm to them a bit more but im a Liverpool fan - grew up and was born and bred a Liverpool fan. Used to really enjoy the England team in the 80's and 90's.

Yes Phil, you have mentioned it, (although I think you are somewhat mistaken).
This poll was more in response to the comments of Wright and Dalglish regarding the geographical and/or small team stuff that they were spouting about. Personally, I think they're talking bollocks!
I'm a United supporter who's been spoilt with fantastic football for the last twenty years whilst England have generally been very poor, yet I ALWAYS support England ................................... ALWAYS.

How can i be mistake about how i support ? surely its a personal choice thing and nothing is complusory ?

And it wasnt Dalglish and Wright that were suggesting it - it was the people calling in on their show and as i said it was nothign conclusion etc and there will of course be fans from big clubs that do support England.

But one thing to remember - support is a choice at the end of the day - a free choice at that. There is no "right" or "wrong"

Honestly can't understand why any Englishman would not support their Country.

Whether it's football, cricket, rugby, golf, athletics, hockey, etc, etc, if England are involved I want us to win

Think this Club V Country issue is slightly confusing the debate, and the wording used.

I am an Evertonian, was a Season Ticket holder for 25 years, and used to follow them away from home as well. Would I travel to Wembley to watch England in a midweek game? Short answer, no. Do I want England to win? Of course I do, I want them to win at everything.

Does this make me an England supporter? In my eyes, yes it does. Do others think to be a supporter you need to be willing to travel to follow the team?

Last 2 years I have watched the Tour De France, never had any interest until the English lads started to do well. Would I travel to watch it live? Never, but I am still a 'supporter' of the English and want them to do well

I am English so naturally want the national team to do well and will always show my support. Do I really care if they do well though, no I do not. Here are my reasons.

For too many years the England team has had 2 bit managers with no real pedigree behind them in charge, the only thing going for them is the ability to say "yes sir" to the FA. I find it hard to really get behind a team that is being coached by a half wit that has half the team playing out of position in formations that they are not use to playing. Watching England at times is like pulling teeth.

McClaren: a few good years with Boro, but never had to coach top class players or had to pit his wits against the might of Europe in the CL.
Hodgson: some good seasons at Fulham that got him the Liverpool job. Got sacked from that for being crap and got given the England job as his reward..........

I don't think actually going to games has anything to do with being a supporter. I don't go to Fulham tha often anymore, because I had to choose between golf and football and I chose golf. That doesn't stop me being a supporter.

Likewise I don't go to Wembley to watch England despite living near London, but I'm still a supporter.

To an extent I agree about the Wembley vs taking games round the country thing but Wembley still has 80000+ in it for most games and even when it doesn't, there is still more people in there than would fit in most other grounds in the country. As for atmosphere, the last England game I went to was at old trafford, it wasn't full, the atmosphere was terrible.

another here who doesn't bother about England passing interest but wont go out of my way to support at all.
Lost all interest it the England football team when the class of 92 were at the prime and all you got during the matches was stand up if you hate Man U, that was it for me.
Being a United season ticket holder for ** (censored its way too long written down! ) I did go to 2 matches when Wembley was being built as my nephew wanted to go and I hated every minute of it. The little englender atmosphere was horrific.
I will take my lad when he gets a liitle older but it wont be very often and will only be for his benefit.
I wont be sat up on Saturday evening i'll be off in the land of zzz's while towns up and down the country are smashed up after another dour defeat.

Oh no that means im in LP's camp! :D

Welcome to the unwashed and unloved camp :D - its more fun

My mate mentioned the effects the players have in peoples support

I cant stand players like Terry and Cole and Rooney etc - spend all season long wishing them to lose when they are on the oppositin ( as would you with Gerrard etc ) and then being told that when they put on a different shirt im suddenly expected to support them !! No way.

I dont support the other teams that play against England , i dont want them to lose - i would like to see my clubs' players do well on the big stage.

I went to wembley when I was a kid to watch England, the whole team was nearly all Liverpool, you've got five good reasons why you should be supporting England Saturday, Johnson,Gerard,Henderson,Sturridge, and sterling, your football mad up there, you can't not support England when nearly half the teams from your own club, get behind your boys, come on England !!!!
