oh come on, i bet theres as many liverpool fans as an any other club (if its anything like AVGC anyway!) :D

Not that many really 😆

Home Counties herberts not happy with the amount of whipped cream with their strawberries?
It was when Murray was in the final - one of the Scots didn’t take it well when he was called a bottler

Ah should’ve known the jocks were involved, probably supports Celtic too 😀

Interesting reading the thread, am not shocked by the contrasting responses although I do find some hard to understand. Golf fashion is very individual

I must admit that I find it odd that one of these is ok because it's a golf event symbol and one would not be ok because it links to football.... Despite them being so so similar.

These people who are saying that wearing this polo shirt has the potential to cause trouble in the bar afterwards. Do you not think the people might actually talk about football during a round of golf, why would it only cause trouble after?
Don't believe everything you read in the papers
Well when people are in the clubhouse having a few pints, football colours can lead to pretty colourful debates which can go the wrong way especially when alcohol is involved. This is why they aren't allowed, it's not really hard to work out

Rubbish, members know who supports what team without people wearing a shirt with a badge on.
Conversations still take place.
It’s actual replica shirts that clubs ban imo and rightly so.

Maybe I've led a sheltered life, but I really can't imagine this ever happening.
I'm pretty certain that the original polo would be fine at our club. The golf club obsession with these matters is downright weird and unhealthy imho. Do people have nothing else to worry about?

Maybe if your having 10 pints, but one or two drinks after a round of golf, I think your exaggerating.

That can happen without people wearing football tops - people talk to each other going around the course and they will know if they support a team - doesn’t seem to cause any issues

The swindles I play in are full of football fans - Spurs , Arsenal and Chelsea mainly being close to London - never come to a “rammy” in the bar - there was nearly an argument over the Wimbledon tennis final once
Let me guess, someone said something negative about Murray or the bbc & you went into LiverpoolPhil mode & got your knickers in a twist 😳

Everyone (almost) at my club knows who I support, and if they follow football, to any degree, there will be a conversation about them during the round, usually prompted by them. Those that didn’t know prior will soon see who I support by my driver cover, pitch repairer and ball marker!

I’ve never worn any clothing with a (Chelsea) club badge on, not that I think I own any, I’ve never been a shirt or scarfer, but when I had to find and wear a red shirt for Forest Pines last year, I got a Wasps rugby polo shirt from my club (they have corporate membership at CGC) from when they held a charity day and it has a large wasp on the breast, I’ve only ever worn it once (red doesn’t suit me 😏 ) but I was never challenged wearing it, although I wouldn’t expect to at a resort, but seeing as my club shop sold them, it kind of leans me to think the shirt in question in the OP wouldn’t be an issue, but then [thankfully] I’m unaware of any reds at my club, they’re mainly Cov City as we have the team and Oggy as members, with a scattering of Arsenal and the usual Yernited never been to OT JCL’s.

For those saying that ‘after a few bevvies’ it could lead to tensions, I’m not sure or aware that golfers stay that long, especially if they’re driving home with golf clubs traditionally on the outskirts, but I’d think if any club knew or witnessed the potential of any confrontations, they’d be asked to leave and no doubt summoned before the committee with the possibility of losing their membership if they can’t conduct themselves in a proper fashion, ffs, if I can put all my tribal feelings to one side whilst playing at mine or any club against or alongside members whom I know support/follow clubs I have a dislike for, then you’ve got to be a class A throbber to start anything just because they’re wearing a football logo’d shirt!

If football club crests arnt allowed, what do they do with people with visible club tattoos?

I’ve one on my leg, wear shorts the majority of the time and it’s never been a problem.

Nor has it caused a fight in the bar afterwards 😆

Maybe if you are a junior it would be acceptable, as with wearing a football top outside of game day or playing/training, anyone over the age of 15 doing this is odd, would be nervous if their laptops were confiscated and should be treated with caution.

Of course your tattoo wouldn’t cause trouble in the bar after Dave as nobody would see it. As I know you are a non drinker and do not partake in that activity. 👏👍
