Can anyone beat this. It was on the monthly medal today and I had been doing OK. The cherry on top was the fresh air shot three holes later. :( :( :(

I once sh***ed 5 in a row out bounds with a 9 iron from the middle of the fairway during a medal. Decided on the spot to pick up. The one and only time I've NR'd.

This brought back a scary thing that attacked a 4somes partner of mine:-

It was a scratch inter club game and everyone plays the 1st 3 (little loop) at our place to warm up. My partner hit 2 s****s from the middle of the 1st fairway, another 2 s****s on the 2nd tee and another 3 in the middle of the 3rd fairway. He walked straight down to see the team captain and said he couldn't play in the match and the sub would have to step in!!!

I can remember when I first started golf, I was in a greenside bunker on the par 5 11th for 5. I two putted for a 19, you do the math but don't post the answer, it's embaressing

Played a match last week, I was 2 up on the 14th par 5. Hit a great drive and my second was on the dance floor pin high! Great… I then putted off the green in to a bunker, 2 out of the bunker and 2 putted, lost the hole and the match! Golf is great…ish

If you want multiple shots out of bunkers then play The Montgomerie at Celtic Manor. I don't know what he used as sand in those bunkers, but fine doesn't even begine to describe the sand.

In our little group I'm normally the good one out of sand, as I've been known to hole out from greenside & even fairway bunkers on one occasion, so it was with some shock that my nice looking drive dove straight into the deepest fairway pot bunker you could imagine & being the good bunker player I thought I was instead of playing safe & coming out backwards or sidewards (even then no easy feat) I went for it. Only to to see it fail to clear the top lip well above my head & roll back in. Was so suprised & taken aback I had to have another go & another. And, well.... Eventually I came out sideways/backwards but as I say even that wasn't that easy.

Walked off with double figures that could have quite easily been a birdie had I not been in the bunker, as my next shot after getting out, left me was short left of green & then a long chip'n'run into the hole...

To watch me laughing & shaking my head as I walked to the next tee jotting down my score was a picture.

Lets just say it was somewhat more than 5 shot out of that particular fairway bunker.

In a medal last year I was 2 under gross for the front 9 in high winds, I then proceeded to hit 3 balls out of bounds and make an 11 on the par 4 10th. My handicap still came down as it was the only bad hole I had. I try to laugh when I do things like that as it just makes me play worse if I get angry.

Last season when I was getting my cards for my handicap, on one of the rounds I had three in a greenside bunker (10th par 4) and ran up a seven, then in another greenside bunker at the (15th par 3) I took four and ran up a seven.

And before anyone thinks I was trying to 'massage' a higher handicap, I can assure you I was 'burstin ma thingy's' to get as low a handicap as possible................playing off 20 this season
