OK. So I'm going to get my Mizzy's fitted as and when I get 5 minutes and a spare £30 for any adjustments. But just wondering if there's any benefit in me heading over to the Mizzy Fitting Centre at Oxford Golf Centre, or will I get the same results going to my local golf centre that custom fits clubs?

Depends if the local place has the dna swing thing. If not, head to the mizuno national fit centre, they offer the service for free and if my experience of the national fit centre at clydebank is anything to go by, it's worth the journey.

I had my Mizzy's fitted by Marc over at Oxford and he was great. I can recommend him to anyone. My spec is 1/2 inch longer and 1 degree flat. He didn't have a club in the bag with that spec so he took the nearest one he had and adjusted the lie there and then to make sure he got it right.
What I will say is if the weather's a bit chilly then take a good jumper - its a bit open to the elements!!

And watch the road into the Centre - its a bit narrow!! Especially over the bridge.

Cheers.

I did email them and they kind of said "well we can't do a custom fitting because you have the wrong shafts for your swing and it will cost too much to replace them".

I did email back and say that I'd had my swing speed etc done before and stiff shafts were the correct shaft for me. But never heard back from them.

So I don't want to drive all the way over there if they're not going to do the "full" service and they're just going to do something that I can get done at my local fitting centre (that don't specialise in fitting Mizunos but are a Callaway and Ping fitting centre and do "general" fittings).

Oh and don't worry about narrow roads, I used to live in Woodhall Spa, there's some narrow roads round them there parts! :D

If this is your MP57s that you recently got, then any good PGA Pro should be able to do your Loft & Lie and if any butt extensions are required then that shouldn't take long to do either.

What you have to remember is that when Mizuno fit for new clubs, they have two different head weights and this comes into theie equation when they 'fit' you for new clubs.

IMO got to a local Pro and see what he can do for you. If you want your clubs to go back to Mizuno for the work it would be via one of their stockists that you'd do this. Have a look on the Mizuno Forum, sure this has been covered on there.

Marvellous!

Thanks for that.

Didn't know there was a Mizuno forum! This could mean even less work getting done on a daily basis!

Depends what you need done. If you just want lofts and lies, any decent pro should be able to do this for you, within the limits of a couple of degrees adjustment. Bear in mind that adjusting loft affects bounce too.

For shaft changes, the Swing DNA will give you a starting point for a fitting. Ideally you would then demo those suggested shafts to see which performs best, and also check that the feel is what you want.

You can check which local fitters have the Swing DNA system here: http://golf.mizunoeurope.com/store/fitting-centres.php?filter=swingdna

Reshafting a set or irons may be expensive, especially if it is with something like KBS or Project X.

I definitely don't want them re-shafted. They have Dynamic Gold S300's in them currently, which I've always used and are perfect for me.

I just want to make sure that the loft, lie and length are correct for me.

If any pro can sort this, I shall head down to my local fitting centre.

If you are hitting a lot of fat shots, with the occasional thinned one thrown in for good measure, getting a massive hook or slice and finding that you come up short with every approach shot then I would leave well alone.

Also, do you want to play me for £50.00?

I've read this post about ten times and still can't make sense of it.

Are you saying that if I'm hitting all the above shots then I *shouldn't* get custom fitted? Or are you saying that *unless* I'm hitting fat/thin/hooks/slices then leave well alone.

Checking lofts and lie used to be bread and butter for every pro in the country, so you should be able to find someone who will do it for you. Forged irons can be knocked out of lie so not a bad idea. Length can be tested statically, and you can get an idea from some online fitting systems, say the Ping one: http://www.ping.com/fitting/webfit.aspx

But you should also take into account how you hit the ball. If you middle it every time, you probably have the right length.

Errr....I was saying that if you are playing that fecking badly with them, don't get them adjusted and play me for £50.00
Whooosh!!
;)

I feared for you when you replied as above. Think you got off lightly, Smiffy going soft in his old age ? :D :D
