So happy today so just had to brag/share it. Our club Championship is played over two days and after a complete disaster yesterday which resulted in a N/R(balls randomley vanishing) I wasn't too optimistic today especially with the strong wind, my confidence was so low I was only taking a hybrid off the tee for par 4&5's. Running alongside the main championship is a Comp for 20.5hcp over 18 holes off scratch. Well my round today couldn't of started any worse. Walked off the 10th(my 1st hole) with an 8 on a par 4. Then hit some rhythem and bogeyed 11,12,13,14,15 before a nasty triple on the 16th. Bogeys at 17&18 gave me a 49 going out. Finally had a par on the 1st then bogeys at 2&3 before another par on the 4th. Then disaster struck.

I hit a hybrid to the centre of the fairway on 5 and helped my partner find his ball in the woods tucked up against a tree. I start to walk away, turn back to see him moving his ball away from the tree!!!. Couldnt belive what I just saw and waited to see if he called it unplayable. Of course he didn't!. Being angry at this I thinned a hybrid right into the bunker lip then followed it up by hitting a 7 iron into the cabbage. A couple of hack outs and a 3 putt and I walked off with a 9. Then got stuck somehow behind the ladies medal which was a fourball. Double bogeyed the par 3 6th before a bogey at 7 and a triple at 8 after waiting 5 minutes on the tee. Bogeyed the last for a gross 49 in which gave me a total of 98 nett 75. No chance of winning it I thought. Watched each group come in before the winners were announced.

Couldnt believe it when the captain announced second place(a very good 21hcp) was 101. Then I got announced as the winner of the Tom Attree trophy!. Honestly thought I had no chance at all but seemed everyone else struggled with the wind. Won 3 comps recently but this win just seems so much more important to me. Really happy but so annoyed about my playing partner cheating and the ladies comp being sent off in the middle of the Club Championship. But in the end it was a good weekend.

Two questions for you guys/gals though. What was your first trophy and how should I of pulled up my playing partner over his "preferred lie"?

Congrats. Glad the upset of blatant cheating didn't cost you the trophy.

You did the subtle bit and if was blanked so unfortunately there is no other way but confrontation be it at the time or at the end of the round. Before you sign the card.

thanks. What annoyed me is that he had no chance of winning any of the trophies but is a fairly good golfer(16hcp). He still ended up carding a 10 on that hole though after trying to chop out of the woods for about 5 minutes.

Just shows you that in competition you can only do your bit, where you finish in the final table of results is out of your control and up to other people!

Well done! Just shows what can happen if you keep your head down and battle on with your round. Did well to keep it all going with the drama you had. Hopefully you wont get put in the position of witnessing cheating again but i doubt you will be so lucky! theres plenty of cheating ****s out there.

Congrats, I also won my first cup in the club championship for the best net score ( didn't trouble the best gross).

If you definitelty knew he was cheating you should have pulled him, when someone I play with has a bad hole I usually say was that a 10,rather then wait for them to tell me their score, that way if they disagree you can count through the shots they took.

Surprised the ladies went out in the middle of the club championship, in our we went off after the last men teed off, ended up waiting loads, 2 ball took 4 and a half hours!

Well done matey, good that you could keep head and ur game going after that and just goes to show also that a bad hole or 2 isnt the end of it,.....

Plenty more to follow;)...

As we were only a two ball(3rd player no show) I didnt want the agro tbh. He is a founder member but has been caught doing it before many times. The players who scored worst on the first day(or N/R'd) went off the 10th whilst the best players went off the 1st. The ladies went off the 1st straight after the leading players and as we were a two ball we made very rapid progress and caught them by the 6th hole(our 15th hole).
