I had been thinking about whether to have some lessons, but was worried that I would be told to change my grip, or something else fundamental and would struggle to change.

The decision was made for me as my wife booked me a couple of lessons for my birthday last week.

All I can say to anyone who has put off having lessons is that it took just 5 minutes to show me why I had been either pushing my irons to the right or pulling them. Simply my swing was too shallow.

After 15 minutes I was being told to swing my arms through the ball and not my upper body and my swing speed increased considerably.

I've still got to practice this to get used to the new way of swinging and hopefully it will become second nature in time.

Tried this out on the course this afternoon. I lost a few balls on the drives, but when I got a few right they really flew. The irons, however, showed an immediate improvement.

I'm a firm advocate of lessons and I'm glad it is beginning to work. It will take some time to feed into your swing so a few range sessions will help especially if you were shown some drills too. The thing to remember if you play and it doesn't go to plan net time out is not to revert to the old swing and stick with it

Make sure you practice inbetween rounds to keep the feel and focus on what changes you've made or you could go out, play and not hit a thing and score 20 points!!!!:sbox:
