Hey folks,

Just completed my first 18 holes on sunday!

I scored 121 :( but I learnt a lot.
To be fair to myself, it was very windy and I was nervous.

however, I can honestly say I love the sport and look forward to improving in the future.

What scores did you lot score on your first 18 holes?

Welcome to golf!

Grats on the 121, I think I was 130-something. What did you lose most shots to? Driving, Fairway, Chipping or Putting?

Look forward to seeing you around the forum and finding out how your journey unfolds.

What are you playing for? Fun or to get good or what?

I played at boothferry Park in east yorkshire, near howden. A nice wide open course, but the wind was a bitch. swirling all over the place.

I dropped most of my shots through inconsistent long iron play. I think I was so nervous, and I tensed up. Frustrating since I know I can hit em better. Hopefully I will relax more at next game.

I am hoping to get good, I am very competative and I would like to play in the local tournaments and such eventually. But first I need to be less crap! :)

my first 18 holes was actually a society comp. I had been to the range numerous times before this though. I can't remember what I shot, but I played stableford, off 28 and scored 30+ points, so it can't have been all bad..I know it certainly convinced me that golf was my game...

I had my first last week and scored 116 mate

Great Score. I bet you were happy with that. what did you find the most challenging?

Yeah I was happy. My main problem was club selection, I under hit my irons so many times through choosing the wrong club. Also putting was totally harder than expected.

How about yourself?

Yeh I often found myself dropping a hot because my ball landed 10-15 feet off the green, although sometimes I think this may have been more to do with the windy conditions. The wind also buggered ym drives, which were not bad really.

it was mainly silly mistakes that messed my game up. I played well ont he first 9 when nobody was playing behind me, but as this was my first time I was a little slow. by second 9 players had cuaght up to me and my friend, and I suddenly felt the pressure.

My first score was 113. I was playing my Dad, it was his first game too and I was nervous and my Dad beat me which I was gutted about! The next week I went out on my own and got 93. That was last September and lately I have been scoring in the low to mid 80's so I am sure your scores will soon come down.

well done on your first full round, and good luck in this fantastic game.

As other have mentioned my first score was 110 but was playing "beginner" rules other wise it would have been 150 plus.

Welcome along. I wouldn't be too upset by that score in the conditions. Sounds like you hit some good ones in there and so plenty of good stuff to build on. My advice would try and get the putting sorted as that will save a lot of shots

I thought Boothferry Park was where Hull City played before the KC stadium - I am sure I have been there and dont remember any flags on the pitch. :D :D

Mind you it was to watch Grimsby there so it may have been more entertaining if it did have.
