Do we all differ in ettiquetee when searching for other players balls? If I find a ball while searching for someone else's I generally offer it to them first, as they were the reason I was there and they are possibly going to be down a ball.

If I know a person plays a certain ball I also usually offer it to them whenever I find one. I tend to only keep balls I find if u like them and I'm searching for my ball.

Am I alone or did I pick this habit up as a club member but it's been a while I forgotten others do it too?

If I find a ball I always keep it unless I will not use it, then I offer it about. No way would I find a shiny new pro v and offer it to the guys who ball I was looking for! You are a obviously a true gent.

Always been 'finder's keepers' for me though I usually offer any I find to kids if they're playing along. If I know I won't use it myself, I'll drop it on the fairway for someone else to pick up.

Same for me. And if no one wants it I leave it on the edge of the fairway for the next player who comes along.

Also, I have a superstition that if a ball has been lost once, it knows how to get lost again...

Not a massive fan of ProVs, so rarely play premium balls I can never get the feel as all I have is a pile of Lakeballs...

I usually give them away and make someone's day. I will always try to keep good srixon balls however.

I also give balls to the kids and beginners, they need them more than I do.

I like to try and play the same ball type, keep the feel off the putter and all. Mid range Srixon balls mostly. No logic, just comfort. I buy lake balls on mass off the net just do I have bulk of what I like.

After skipping about 100 'grade 2' balls about 12 months ago I'm now bagging all my finds to build a practise bag again. Unless they're almost new, anything will go towards the praccy bag.

And if I'm looking for someone else's I do pick up and keep although will throw the duff ones well out of the way so someone else doesn't think it's their ball. I wouldn't expect someone to give me a ball they've found if looking for mine although one lad I play with does, as he only ever plays one make of ball (not titleist!).

I wonder if I am in the minority that won't pick balls up at all?!

My PP Williep, uses the balls he's been gifted, that have his name and his football status printed on them.
He's lost quite a few believe me[ha ha] but zero returned so far.

If it's premium it goes in the bag, or like others I leave on the edge of the fairway for someone else. I have a practice bag with a couple of hundred balls in so can't be bothered keeping what I won't use.

Varies from game to game

If someones having a bad day losing balls then they'll be offered any I find and vice versa. I might keep a nice one but pro-v's go to whichever player is pretending to be a tour pro that day

Similar to most. If I find a decent ball I'll bag it for myself. I don't play ProV's so if I find one of those I'll give it away to the "better" player in the group. If I find a right old nail it will be heading for a gorse bush.

I too put balls I find on the edge of the fairway after offering them to pp's, last Saturday I was looking for a ball lost by one of our group and found 7 balls in an area of thick brambles, I did keep 1 for myself though.

Can't help feeling that it would be better all round to put these spare balls by the next tee box, or ball washer etc than moving them to sit on the edge of the fairway (and potentially create a whole load of wrong ball situations!)

The BIG question for me is when in a match how hard you look for your opponents ball. My buddy searches as if it is his own ball he's looking for - I tend to look for opponents ball rather less enthusiastically...always in the right area and honestly - but not really exerting myself too much - is that naughty of me?
