Final hole?

straight 3-something par 4 (it's in the process of being lengthened a bit), OB on the right, trees left. shallow ridge across the middle of the fairway. Big bunker at the back and right side that was left over when fixing the drainage.

It's a bit plain really, though I've lost a few giving it that little bit extra.

Because of the water table we can't put bunkers in but a bit of surface mounding could add a bit to it.

Par 4 290 dogleg left. OBB all the way down the left to stop the biggies trying to cut the corner, fairway runs left to right and down onto our first. 2 bunkers straight in play approx 220 yards from the tee, green is slighly elevated and has a large bank and sand trap on the right, path and trees down the left.

In the summer the bounce from your tee shot can be savage, the ideal way to play is a 180/190 yard lay up with a slight draw (5/6i as downhill) then a wedge in. have seen many a score card with 0 points on this hole.

Still think one of the nicest finishing holes ive played is royal ashdown...

Ours is a tricky 340yd bank and borrow fest.
bunkers left and right dotted all the way to the green from 250ish, two tier green and the practice putting green and clubhouse behind. Get your approach a little short and it will run all the way back down to the fairway even though it has been relaid twice to reduce the severity of the bottom tier.

Some of the big hitters on here would not even need there driver to reach the green on that hole brendy...

416yd par 4. Dogleg right to left and drive all uphill.

The pic below is from the tee. I don't hit high enough to go over the trees on the left, and the trees on the right are in range with driver or 3 wood.

It's one of 2 holes which are often card wreckers for me, and the only hole on the course I haven't birdied since I started playing there about 18 months ago.

Our course finishes on a reasonable length par 4. Blind up hill drive followed by a blind downhill second shot. I find it a really good finishing hole as it brings up any number of different scores, a 3 is possible, par is achievable, miss the green and there is rough either side and one big tree so a 5 is not out of the question. Certainly keeps things interesting if there is anything to play for on the last.

509 yard par 5 alongside the River Blackwater, with willow trees on each side of the fairway. Being riverside its flat land, but always lush grass.

From the tee you have a number of options: Slice or strong fade over or into the hawthorn hedge that borders the practice ground, hook into the river or strong draw into the mature willows that line the river-bank, or a straight shot with a gentle fade at the end will put you into the drainage ditch that runs along the right third of the fairway landing area. If you miss those choices then a straight drive will put you with a second shot around or over a smaller willow in the middle of the fairway onto a a reasonably generous fairway where the smart play is to stay in the middle and avoid tangling with the willows. Reasonably generous green front to back with some bunkering and then a walk over the river bridge back to the club-house for Costa cappucino.

Nice finish to the round.

definitely a card wrecker

left hand dog leg, 90 degree, 250 yards to the corner down tree lined fairway only about 35 yards wide so a lot of folks end up trying to cut the corner for the second, only about a 9 or 8 but often the result is straight in to the trees.
Once your on the green its very steep from back to front so never any easy putt if you above the pin. Everybody in the club will tell you how many comps they have lost on the 18th.
When we played recently a summer league on card with strokes worked out through stats over a year this hole was stroke one
I've named it La Gorda, the fat lady, cos its never over until. ;)

Wow, I am actually starting to get a little envious of some of your finishing holes especially yours Brendy, that photo is stunning.

As for my yardages I'm surprised it's caused such a stir. Why can't a high handicapper hit the ball a reasonable distance? :D

190 yards and you stick it with a 5 iron????
How come you're off 28?
      ;)

he uses his driver for putting :D
Pics or it didnt happen :D

Tiger, Our 18th is a tough little hole but there are better holes on the course. our 6th par 3 is around 220yds from the back sticks and would be at home at Augusta looks wise, teebox backed right into the pine type trees with a dip and rise to the narrow long green with bunkers all round.

The 18th on our East course is 444yd Par 4, into the prevailing wind, dogleg right with OOB on the right. Your tee shot lands in the valley so usually very little roll and the green is at the top of the other side of the valley. Once you get to the green, if you are not far enough on then the ball will roll back a long way. 3 and even 4 putts are not uncommon.

I seem to remember that the average score on the hole in a medal is somewhere between 5.6 and 5.7. Although it almost always plays the most difficult hole on the course, it is index 6.

Just to make it a bit more interesting, we are now putting a large pond in on the bend as you can see in the picture below. :(

The green is to the right of the furthest right house.

550 par 5 to finish. Not my favorite golf hole to be honest. It's straight hazards left and right and fairly tight fairway. 9 bunkers and they are currently building a tenth, it's a real 3 shot par 5 though so you need to be steady and hold the nerves back if your on a score.

350 yard par 4 with a gentle kink to the right at about 200 from the whites, trees all the way down the right and OB from halfway along the left edge of the fairway and out the back of the green. One fairway bunker on the right, one greenside bunker front left, one front right and one on right side of the green.

Pretty straightforward tbh, a decent drive with a touch of fade leaves gap wedge in.

SI 12 but personal calculated SI is 18 according to SS2

377 yard slight dogleg left par 4 with a burn running across the fairway at 210. Slightly downhill off the tee then uphill to the green which has a severe back to front slope.

Ours is a great last hole, it’s not pretty but it is tough and rewarding to par. It is a long par 5 with a dog leg off the tee with trees down the left to trap players who try to straighten it out. It’s then another heavy blow to get it close, I don’t see myself getting on in two ever. The green is a little downhill with a bunker on all four sides ready to grab any bad shots.

I would hate to end on a par 3.

Ours is 531 yards with OB reachable on the right side of the hole and a ditch at about 240 across the fairway. There is a pond that cuts in to the front right of the green with bunkers protecting the left side. It's SI 9 so not the harderst hole (in theory) by a long stretch but it is funny how the OB and trees (about 30 yards right) lure the ball in. It has been known to wreck the cards of some good players

I guess I quite like our closing hole because I get 2 shots at the moment which means a five gets me two points. So if I go in the drink I get a drop up there, chip on two putts. I'll probably want a longer hole when my handicap eventually comes down. A par 5 a la Pebble Beach seems quite alluring now.

This is our last hole. Par 5 about 520 yds with a ditch accross the fairway about 380 off the tee.
Green guarded by pond and bunker...........

Our 18th is a 420 yrd hole off the blues. Two routes can be taken.
Down the right gives you about 220 to the hole, with a green that is very hard to hold off long shots. The other route is over the water, which is about a 240-250 carry, but only leaves a short iron/wedge in. The green slopes towards you alot, anything on the front will role back off.. its also guarded by 3 pit bunkers

Your line for the longer route is the bunker on the left.

View of the green. Its a very birdie'able hole, but only if you take the long route off the tee.
