Another couple of Netflix films over the weekend.
Hustle, Adam Sandler on top form again but in a more serious role, very good movie 👌
Run, a thriller about...well I don't want to spoil it 🤣 Another very solid film.

Watched and enjoyed this last night (y)

Also watched The Long Game, based on a true story of Mexican college golfers battling racism, a bit predictable but a decent watch.

My week for sports films obviously lol.

I happened to watch that last night.

It was OK, but indeed very predictable. And sometimes extremely stupid to even be believable (was surprised it was a true story, which became apparent once the credits rolled). Sometimes (a lot of the time) it felt a bit more like Caddyshack

The latest planet of the apes film on Disney plus. Disappointing, really enjoyed the first 3 of the reboots but this one not so much. Not sure whether it is just less interesting when the focus is not Apes v Humans or that the plot is not great and there is too much left unexplained to line up a sequel.

The biggest disappointment though was that the ads had so many nods to the Charlton Heston original and the implication was that this could be a bit of a re-boot of that to join up the original and current films. Sadly did not happen or at least not in this one.

Better than Logan?

I've not watched loads of them, all got a bit dull and samey. But watched Logan a few years ago, really liked that one.
Completely different type of film, lots and lots of jokes and quips in this one. I really enjoyed it, it hit my type of humour. I probably enjoyed it because I caught most of the jokes since I've seen all the other X-Men films and lots of MCU films.

The wife liked it as well and she's not a huge MCU fan (hasn't watched many of them at all) so she missed out on a lot of the jokes but still laughed at quite a few others.

One day, I might just binge watch them all, start to finish

I did enjoy it.
But was expecting it to be better than it was.
Haven't seen it yet but with the last Deadpool I was hugely disappointed when I saw it in the cinema. Expectations were too high. I've since watched it a few times at home and now really like it.

Sometimes you want too much from a film and the first watch is almost something to go through before you can enjoy it properly.

It was really good. Non stop jokes. Doesn't take itself seriously

Also watched Deadpool & Wolverine last night. There was a bit of a sense that they were making up the storyline as they went along - but in many ways that's in-keeping with all the other multiverse stuff they were lampooning. Lots of laughs throughout. Good set of cameos as well, including a couple you don't expect (if you haven't looked it up beforehand).

Watched some older films last week and enjoyed them all

Cromwell (1970) they do not often make them like that any more absolutely impressive star cast and there must have been 1000s of of other actors.
The Courier one ex special forces operative trapped in a car park by 10 would be assassins. The ending was a bit of twist in the tale.
Both on the free to view channels

The Foreigner (netflix) Chackie Chan as 60 something man trying to avenge the murder of his daughter by the IRA with a bit of political scheming in the film as well.
