Films

Fast X. Do not judge me, wife is away and I wanted something with no plot to put on in the background. How annoying (this could go in random irritations), I have seen films that set up the next one but I have never seen one that literally has no ending, it just stops on a cliff hanger like the penultimate episode of a series on TV. There is no way that you can call this a complete film and if I had paid to see it I would be furious. I am fine with films building up to another part but they need to also be a complete film in themselves and this is not.

Series has grossed over $7bn globally… they know what they are doing!

Sadly, so many buy in to it.

That sort of thing really bugs me as well. That's one of the reasons I hated Dune. So unsatisfying.

We just watched Saltburn. Hard to describe it without being able to swear - it was a ____ed up film. Spent a lot of the first hour wondering what sort of film it is and where it was going. Starts to get interesting with the first twist after an hour or so. And by the end, well, there's no going back. Some great performances by the cast. Always great to see the likes of Rosamund Pike and Richard E Grant poshing it up. And Barry Keoghan is well on his way to becoming a generational star.

Watched this last night. Beyond weird/messed up but performances made it watchable.

The End We Start From. As an emergency planner, I found massive flaws with the story they were trying to tell. But on a human level, quite a lovely story, and incredibly well acted.

Brand shiny new six screen cinema in centre of town opens today. Built in the new town centre development its close to where the 1930s Regal cinema stood - closed in 1985 - demolished in 1987.

Only ten minutes walk from our front door, Mrs and me planning to go fairly regularly, and with entry at under £10 I’m looking forward to our first night out…or maybe morning showing for £3.99 - just need something we fancy seeing.
