After a couple of practise sessions this week I stepped onto te 1st tee quite confident this morning.

!st hole went well, 2nd not so but kept going. To be honest my front 9 was nothing spectacular, blobbed a couple of holes :o(stableford comp)

Raised my game on the back 9 and played some good shots and good holes.
Driving was quite good, irons on the fairway were much better (my Nemesis), short game went well (I was told my putting had improved)

Not the most fantastic score in the world come the 18th but what did it for me was the encouraging remarks from my playing partners.
One of them hasn't played with me for a while and commented how much better my game was.

It meant the world to me, I was delighted and felt like my game was actually going somewhere now.

Chuffed to bits.

Do any of you other high handicappers receive words of encouragement from regular partners? It made me feel that I was at last making progress with this wonderful game! :)

Its always gratifying when someone notices the work you've obviously put in so well done. The secret is to keep going. Even if you aren't getting cut when perhaps you feel your game deserves it, you're getting use to playing more consistantly and learning more about putting scores together consistantly. Take the praise, and continue the hard work. Top man.

Well done Basher, its always nice to hear words of encouragement.

We don't really praise eachother that much, we praise a good shot or a good round but keep it manly ;)

it's not just high handicappers that need the encouragement, all of us do. I do have a tendency to let the head drop after a bad hole, but a cheery word from IMurg just lately makes such a difference.
