That said, it was nice to buy John_Findlay's putter from him via this forum as it removed any hint of doubt. Definitely a good idea for us to have a section for equipment though.

J_F, if you want another dozen of those dodgy putters just let me know cos I got a new delivery of lead in today.

Couple of tonnes should do it this time, Andy. Cheers mate. I have the Odyssey 2-ball mould ready and waiting. Usual commission? :p

Only joking, guys. Honest.

I would definately be more inclined to buy second hand from e-bay. someone clearing out their garage or (god forbid) having been disabled out of the game. A few honest chips and dinks backed up with good communication with the seller would convince me far more than a few stock images of shiny clubs cloned from a online brochure.

If I in the positon where I could only afford a decent 7 iron and putter I would probably still play the game if I could. Rather that than a bag of knocked-off gleaming sh1te.

Good news lads:

Dear Parmo,

Hello Parmo
Very sorry you have a problem with the Clubs. We do buy from reputable wholesalers and they assure us that the Clubs are genuine and we do give a 100% satisfaction Guarantee. However, there is obviously an issue which we need to take up with our supplier and will refund you in Full via PayPal.

Please confirm that this is acceptable. We will then send a full refund via Paypals Refund Link.

When this is done could you please send the clubs back to:

Upon Receipt there we will of course refund your Return Postage via PayPal

Respectfully
89335putt

So we wait and see.... very good of them I must say, but when the heads where covered in glue which took the polish off I knew something was wrong.

I would stick with them then, if they work ok. No point in spending more, and finding no real difference in performance.

I would of if he hadnt emailed back offering the above, but to me golf is about confidence and when you lose that in a club I might as well of kept my old ones.

Hope this all works out then.

Got to be really careful buying from ebay, or other cut priced internet suppliers.

Personal recommendation is the way to go. Useful if forummers who have a good experience with a particular supplier post about it and give reviews.

Would be very useful to have a thread where people can recommend companies giving good service. For example I used a company a few weeks ago called percentage golf. Never heard of them before but they were selling a Benross putter that I liked the look of for £28.00. Put the order in on a Sunday night and emailed them on the Monday to ask when it was to be dispatched so as I could leave a note for the delivery man if I was out. Had a response 10 minutes later telling me that it had already been sent and would be with me in the morning, and it was. Good communication and good service from a company I had never heard of.

" There's a seller on ebay called MrsAngela who has endless cobra gear......**** knows where it all comes from, but with a very high feedback and selling slightly bashed up stuff, seems ok."

Yes I bought one of her offerings. Used it today to good effect but I cannot be sure if it is the genuine article.

Cobra Jon and I where talking about her the other day, maybe she gets ex demo as she never has the head covers for any clubs. Have you seen how much head covers go for?

Good point Parmo, I have heard that alot of the toerags selliing fake gear would rather give a refund than risk being reported. Sadly there are dozens who will never realise the difference for the few that demand their money back

Yeah it sounds like thats the way with the dude I bought from, I just mentioned that they where fakes and offered a refund even before I had sent them back (touch wood that they do)the amount about must be unreal. Buying wedges isnt as bad as some people buying a FT-i for $150 when they retail over 250, that must be a horrid experience and I hope they get their cash back.

Only thing I buy on ebay is my gloves, I wear Footjoy sci-text and like them to be tight, but the tightness goes after 1-2 weeks.

Usually get them half price.

This has been a very interesting read.
