I'm looking for recommendations for a 3 or 4 fairway wood which will help me off the tee. I'd like one with a deep face to inspire a bit of confidence, but most new models seem to have very shallow faces these days, which doesn't work for me. Had a G20 3W which was a nice looking club to my eye but I struggled with the shallow face, especially on the tee.

So, any recommendations? Does not have to be a current model, an oldie but a goody would be just fine. Please no one say RBZ....

The launcher looks like a viable candidate. I also like the look of the Ping G5 and the Nike SQ Dymo, both have which look to have a deeper face. Anybody tried either?

Probably not what you want to hear but.....
If you have a fault in your swing stopping you from hitting your present 3 wood, buying a new one may not help much.
Get a lesson and learn how to hit the 3 wood you've got would be my advice and a lot cheaper than a new 3 wood

Have a look at the older Callaways.

I have a Callaway GBBII which has a fairly deep face and is great off the tee.

Hawkeye VFT were also quite deep faced.

Old models but still great clubs and available at pretty low prices.

They are both titantium which I think meant they could make the faces thinner so they could be a bit bigger.

Fashion now seems to be for much more low profile heads.

I don't disagree, however I currently have no 3 wood...

Off the tee I always seem to catch it out of the heel of the club giving poor contact and thus distance and accuracy.

I much prefer a deeper faced 3 wood also.

Got a Titleist 906f2 that I may be looking to move on, got a Tour Edge 3w to try out and if that doesn't work looking at a Wishon fairway.

The 906f2, in my view, are on of the best 3w around. I prefer them to the 910 range which I had and went back to the old faithful!

I'd bet my house on that being caused by a swing path fault. When I get too out to in I tend to hit a lot of necky cuts.

Would I be right in saying that deeper faced fairway woods have a generally lower flight?

not really - depends on the club weighting really. It's a shame the OP doesn't like the RBZ because the original version non-TP 15 degree is 197 volume and would seem to fit the bill in every respect.

Look at a K15 which was what I started with. I then moved on to the RBZ and am just waiting on my launcher now

Tried the RBZ but didn't like the white head, but more than that the head felt really heavy to me. I am quite particular in what I'm after. The search goes on...
