Extending irons by half an inch

I am looking at getting a set of AP2 714 or 716 on ebay. I need half inch longer than standard which is proving hard to find. I was considering extending them myself.
Would this have any noticeable difference to feel or swing weight?

What condition are the grips in?

Dont have them yet bob. Would try blowing the grips off forst with a compressor but prepared for full regrip.

If the grips are still in good condition it might be worth getting your local pro to do it. He/she would just reuse the grips.
