Even My Pro Is Trying To Tempt Me

Unsurprisingly I gave in and finally got the R11's today. My pro did them for £499 which is as competitive a price as I've seen. Debut this morning but to be honest the wind was pretty strong and so a lot of holes were hybrids or lay ups so didn't get to use the full range. Those I did hit were lovely. Torn between playing again tomorrow in another blustery day or hitting them on the range and getting the feel of them.

Good stuff Hommy, you enjoy your new purchase. What shafts did you plump for?

Get in the course homer, no practice like real practice

I agree there is no place like the course but it was hard going in the wind today and I didn't feel comfy with distances etc which was the reason for wanting to hit a range.

I went for the stock KBS 90 in the end. Regular flex. Good price too. I know they won't be a magic wand but wanted something to give my game (and confidence) a boost. Tried them and liked them so it was always going to be a done deal

That's exactly what I did when I went to i15's a couple of months back. Confidence boost has worked, play well.

Enjoy Homer. If it were me I'd get on the course with them but I'm not a range person. Even if it means not playing for a score by leaving different distances than you usually would so you can use the new irons more I'd still rather be hitting into greens than towards range targets.

I have to admit to succumbing today as well. Had no intention of changing but saw and liked them when I bought a hybrid just over a week ago. Had some good (ish) news Friday so went and had a swish with them and liked them even more. Spent 24hrs umming and ahhing then pulled the trigger today.

Coincidentally had a go with the R11 while I was there and wasn't particularly taken by them, but it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing :)

am i the only one on here who doesn't get drawn in by shiny new things i am still playing with my PING i3 BLADES ten years old but i still shoot in the 70's,if it ain't broke dont fix it.

So what did you buy?

Enjoy them homer. In the market for some irons myself although my parents aren't giving in to fairly obvious hints :(

The best bit was watching Homer nervously pacing round the clubhouse hoping the pro turned up so he could get the sticks before we tee'd off. He was like a kid on Christmas Eve :D

Had a good look at the R11 irons today Homer and fear you have been had, TM are a joke. The R11 is the CB with a different badge, they have changed the back of the club slightly and thats it. Look down on them and they are the exact same, shape and top line!

New cars, new mobiles, new shoes, new golf clubs. They are all like the 'Critter in the Cave' in the film 'How the west was won' Jimmy Stewart was lured into the cave to see the 'critter' then robbed blind.

We all have the urge to see the Critter, even though we really know he wont be there.

Maybe you would shoot in the 60s with new bats. Hope that hasn't messed with your head. Do you ever try more modern clubs, but reject them in favour of the i3,or choose not to spend the money? Just curious.
