With Woburn hosting the Masters it was a perfect opportunity for the ET to reall push to promote golf in the UK and indeed the local area

Sky have done a cracking job with the ticket offer and highlighting the event everywhere - also school kids have been invited along with Poulter over the last two months to clinch a sponsered again by Sky

The ET requested the help via Woburn of local clubs for volunteers and green staff which have been provided - so the local clubs have gone back to Woburn enquiring about tickets to auction off or give to members who have worked hard etc - ET give them - none , Woburn members- none , local schools - none . Lots of businesses have been invited to sponser corporate sections at a massive cost but no extra tickets - the ET are trying to milk every single last penny out of the event and I will be amazed if they hold another at Woburn

Sky have done wonders - it's a shame the ET haven't helped them out

shame to hear that - never understood why the UK have so few tournament in relation to their courses and players, and it looks great on the TV.
also never understand why at all sporting events that once the event hasn't sold out, with only maybe a day or 2 to go that they don't just give the tickets to schools, or go down the local ranges and sport clubs to give them away.
They'd get the money back in the money they would spend during the day, as well as building an event with a great atmosphere that would make the fans that did attend want to come back the following year.

At the end of the day it is a business. I'm sure Sky would have considered doing stuff for the local schools in particular if they had been approached. They must get inundated at every event from local clubs, schools etc and if you start doing it where do you draw the line? Not sure why LP says he'll be amazed if they hold another event at Woburn. Surely if the ET want another event (or a seniors) Woburn will relish the publicity and can't see that not giving anything will impact that. The ET and Woburn will still work together

according to the commentator people playing golf in GB has never been higher, they have taken into account the use of ranges and people playing nine holes as well as junior players of all ages, they are looking into a shorter course concept for very young juniors, they gave away over 15k tickets for this event, how many is not enough, its a business and has to be profitable and don't think WOBURN aren't coining it in.

Shame Sky didn't take the chance to make it an un-encrypted free to view event ;)

They have been showing some on Sky1 which isn't one of there premium pay channels.

LP I thought the British Masters was a 3 year deal with Poults Justin and Westy all hosting in turn?

They also did the live clinics with Westwood and others last night and more tonight, thought it was excellent.

A rather "posh" course up here investigated holding a European Tour Event and before the ET would agree they wanted a 5 Mil guarantee, that was before TV/merchandise deals etc, not surprisingly, members rejected it.

4 I think but only one at Woburn with Donald , Rose and Westwoof hosting somewhere else

Again all sponsered by Sky who I will admit have done things very well

I quite enjoyed the clinic with Westy and the Howeller.. Quality good natured TV that shows some of the fun that is had on the course.. More of the same please Sky..

Barter said it on the show - Howeller can make a very good coach - loved the drills with the tee pegs and pipes.

Also think he will make a perfect RC captain

He is just a genuinely nice guy.. Someone you'd quite happily have a round and a pint with...

Totally agree. He was a top bloke on the GM,Adams day even if he did liken my swing to that of an axe murderer

I know a bit about this from members of Woburn, and from working for the scorers for the European Tour. Unfortunately there is no way I could put on an open forum what I know. There are always two sides to every story, but in this case there are three, and one body involved is a lot stronger than the other two.:mmm:
