Have you had your e-mail yet? Does anyone think that it will make a blind bit of difference? No, me neither. The worst bit for me on all this is that some courses now require a certain amount of scores to be competition scores to be eligable for prizes,as if this would make a difference. It's all a mess. Cheaters will always cheat. In my opinion, the only way to try to stop them, is when anyone wins a comp, be it single or pairs, their handicap should be reduced down to what they scored on that day. Also, we should revert back to the other system where if you don't play to your handicap you only get 0.1 back on your handicap. THis would mean that it would take ages to get back to the handicap they won off, if ever.

It’s a good point. There’s a massive push for general play scores but some clubs now saying that you have to have a certain amount of non general play cards to qualify for an open. Especially scratch ones.
Yes EG are differentiating between elite and all other comps. Too many GP cards and you don't get in but they want you to submit a card every time you play 🤔

Guy I play with is on our handicap committee, he plays every comp but he also does GP card every single round he plays. Over 200 cards a year , his view is we should do every round but that's just his opinion

I aren't putting a scorecard in every time I play - sometimes I just want to go out there and have fun, and you simply can't do that with the background of making a score that will validate your handicap.

I am with you. Comps are comps, everything else is whatever you want to do. I have no idea why this is seen as unsatisfactory by the golfing authorities.

The issues arising from this have been done to death in these pages, so no need for repetition.

Have they changed the rules recently? Used to be no more than a certain number of your 20 counting rounds could be GP

Edit just checked says no more than 4 GP in last 20 cards
The rules are that if there are more than 4 GP cards in your last 20, they reserve the right to review your index and, if an issue is found, then they reserve the right to reserve entry to elite competitions. There is no automatic refusal of entry.

Why would they need to review if they are fully confident in their system
