It's like they'd never seen a football before.

The ball control was abysmal. How many misplaced passes ? Just careless. It's like someone tied there laces together.

No quality. No Pace. No Imagination.

I don't know what it is. It's as if they are scared to play.

I'm just absolutely seething right now. Wish I'd have watched the golf like Homer.

Thats the chuffing problem ... they haven't seen this ball before.

The FA didn't let them use the Adidas ball for the friendlies because they have a deal with Nike ......

WTF ???????????????

They get what they deserve and I bet Rooney is done his foot in again.

The FA need to look at the whole structure of the English game. There are far too many overseas players in our top flight and when you take them, the Scottish, Welsh and Irish players away who does Capello really have to choose from? Yeah Rooney scores well for Manchester but he is surrounded by players who can give him the qaulity balls he needs to score. If we do not put a cap on the amount of foreign players in our teams we will never have enough home grown talent to make a squad of players good enough to challenge in the top flight of world football.

WOEFUL!!! I can't recall ever seeing England play so badly. It was like watching the Palace!!!

The sad thing is that we'll probably progress from the group but we don't deserve to.

God help us if we get someone good in this tournament. Messi, etc would tear us a new ar5ehole!!!

Can't see us beating Slovenia, not on that form!
Unless he changes things around. Play Joe Cole from the start and bring Gerrard in the middle to play behind Rooney.
Has Capello got something against Joe Cole? Can't see why he's not been played yet. :D

I've just scan read this thread and I think I'm in agreement with most of you.

England were poor, but there are extenuating circumstances :

In the warm up friendlies, the only time England looked remotely balanced, and happy, was in the 30 minutes we had Cole playing that free role behind Rooney. Why the heck would we want to try that again?

It's a well quoted figure that Rooney scores more when he's playing alongside an inform Heskey. Well I think we've proved that it doesn't help when he's playing alongside an out of form Heskey.

We pay our manager £6 million to be able to make changes when it's needed.

So he made the obvious changes.

Take Heskey off and stick on Defoe and Crouch.

That'll work then.

£6 million well spent, I say.

That was the worst England performance I have ever seen, we all know 4-4-2 doesnt work at this level so why keep playing it??? We need Cole on the left and Gerrard behind Rooney in a 4-4-1-1. SWP should never have been on the plane, Adam Johnson would have been idea on the left as a sub and right now even Walcott would have been ideal.

Rooney having a go at the fans!!! Typical Scum player. These fans have paid a lot of cash to watch nothing more than a pub side get out classed by a third rate footballing nation.

The only highlight of yesterday was seeing the Germans being beat.

What a total and utter load of crap.
Why do I torment myself by watching this bloody lot when they are on?
You could have stuck a decent pub team out there and at least they would have gone down fighting.
I hope (and pray) we get through the group stages and the whole country get themselves hyped up that we are going to win the bloody thing....and then we get walloped 6-0 by the first team we meet. It will serve this bunch of overpaid tosspots a lesson.

I don't get it. Is Capello stubborn or summat. How can you play 4-4-2 and when it's not working play 4-4-2 and when that doesn't work play 4-4-2 with Rooney at left mid. Every fan in the country would pick Cole and play gerrard up. It would also free up lampard who looks pedestrian.

The players shouldn't feel pressure there hasn't been any. This year is the first time in a long time that the country hasn't been deluded enough to think we'd win the blinking thing! It's got nothing to do with the ball it's moved around so slowly.

I hope we lose to Slovenia, Capello gets the boot and Woy Hodgson gets the job. I think that's why the Liverpool role's not finalised. It would herald a new era. There was all the talk of selecting players on form yet he left Dawson, Parker, A Johnson and Bent at home. They must be relieved!!

Rooney having a go at the fans!!!

Got to agree with you on that one.....how DARE he critisise the fans after that abject lesson in mediocraty. The amount of money it's taken for these people to travel and get tickets to watch England, if nothing else, should ensure that they are at least treated with some respect, let alone treated to a display of football, rather than that 90 minutes of dire tripe. He needs a swift kick up the arse, the spoilt, over-paid brat, given he is one if the worst offenders to date!

The entire team were at fault in producing a poor (!) performance, save Barry who looked good after a long layoff.

Joe Cole in, Gerrard in behind Rooney, and maybe, just maybe, there will be reason to watch this WC into the third week if we can squeeze through on Wednesday.

Come back Sven, all is forgiven!!

Playing Joe Cole or anyone else isn't going to change anything ......... England just aren't good enough.

There is talk of disharmony in the England camp cause the nasty manager is trying to focus them on the task in hand and not letting them enjoy their holiday at our expense with the WAGS.

Also they aren't happy with not knowing the team until the last minuet so they can't 'Twiter' the team or pass it on to a their paymasters in the press to earn their 'extra's'

Or am I being cynical

Never mind.
They'll eventually be out of the tournament and will all be flown back home first class or in their own private jets.
Back to their wags, mansions and a little light training before their next leauge match in August and to collect another obscene amount of money for being useless.

Just a thought...........
Do the players still get paid by their clubs whilst on England duty?

Oh yes, it's £140k a week or whatever all year long and for the duration of their contracts, even if they get injured or dropped!

Marco Negri was on Rangers books for years on a fortune a week, he only played 1 season then hurt his eye playing squash and went a bit loopy-loo and wouldn't play but took the cash anyway.

Can't hang England out to dry until after the Slovenia game, they do have one more chance to get it right.
Spain and Germany have both lost so a draw isn't the end of the world, think it was more the manner of their play which has hacked folk off big time.

Rooney is close to imploding.....again imo.
