End of Season Predictions 2024/25

Here we go then...

Clarifications:
2 points for getting something spot on, i.e. team in correct position.
1 point for being generally correct or was the runner-up, i.e. team in top six or losing finalist.
Lose a point if you were way-off, i.e. top six prediction was closer to the relegation battle or vice versa (basically Spurs, Utd and Forest).
Lose a point if your 'first manager sacked' was not sacked at all.
Best signing/biggest flop: These are always debateable every year, but I honestly couldn't think of someone who's actually been the 'best signing' this season. Certainly none of the ones predicted jumped out at me as being great. Therefore no plus points were given, however you lost a point if you said someone who hardly featured at all. In the flop category, similarly, 1 point was given if your player hardly featured. Someone lost a point for saying Slot since he won the league. 😂 I didn't give a point for Fullkrug since he came in a managed a couple of goals at one stage. I literally had to Google who Stamenic was, he was immediately loaned out of the league so I gave half a point for that, because who even knows if that was the plan all along? Whatever.

Congratulations go to @BrianM !

Commiserations to @PJ87 who managed to do worse than someone who didn't even take it remotely seriously. Unlucky mate.

Was going to say, having looked at 3jabber's Top 6 predictions, finishing below that will be a tough pill to swallow.

Clearly my love of ETH has hurt me in this.

Archie Gray had a very good season in a struggling Spurs team 😁

Those predicting Forest for the drop....this won't be forgotten.
I guess you're being tongue in cheek but it wasn't exactly outlandish. You were shocking the season before and stayed up by the skin of your teeth. Not even Forest fans predicted a run at the top six surely?

Edit: It's funny, Spurs and Forest have pretty much just swapped places this season. 😂

Only 3 people got the relegations all correct.
The 3 promoted teams getting relegated is the easy-money-bet. I imagine a few more might go for this next year.

The number who had both Spurs and ManU in the top 6.
Half the field going for this and how wrong they were.
Makes it interesting though.
Only 4 left Manu out of top 6. I predict more will be doing this next year.

In fairness, last season the 3 promoted teams getting relegated was only the second time that had ever happened in the Premier League, 1998 being the last. It was more frequent that all promoted teams stayed up (4 times), the last time being the season before last.

I'm sure more will bet on all three going down next season. But, whilst we can blame the gulf in class being all about the money, the paradox to that would be how badly Man Utd and Spurs did this season. So, I still think if any of the promoted sides come up to the league, with a good number of hard working pros who are up for the battle, they could certainly take advantage of some of the current PL sides who may be low on confidence, injuries, poor recruitment, etc.

100% Tongue in cheek. I was confident we wouldn't be fighting relegation because of the signings we'd made in the summer but I had us down around the 12-15th comfortably.

I'm still upset we couldn't get Europa/CL over the line, but it is what it is.

There's some proper potential away days in the Conference League next season though!

This is very interesting reading! Lots of people went to the Spitty Carra/Rat-boy Neville school of prediction when assessing Forest's chances, I see. 🤣

I had some absolute shockers. Some understandable, Utd, Spurs top 6, and yes Forest for relegation 😝 , but my complete left field gamble on Brereton Diaz being best signing of the season has haunted me all year . I might be a bit more circumspect next year 🫣

I had Utd and Spurs in top six, Forest to go down and Zirkzee as best signing!
However, I also had Zirkzee as worst signing.

I think I should get at least half a point

Seriously, Thanks to Orikoru for once again do all the collating of data and producing such a great detailed table 👋👋👋

I looked at the record of every player mentioned in both categories. I said to myself that anyone in the 'best signing' category who had a good rating on WhoScored (like say, over 7) could have a point or half a point, but none of them did. As for Zirkzee, I didn't really watch him play, but he made 14 league starts, 18 more from the bench, and managed 3 goals. I don't know what the expected standard is for someone who doesn't usually start, but that doesn't seem terrible to me. Compared to say, Dewsbury-Hall who only made 2 starts and less than 300 minutes in total.

Bloody hell mate, I didn't see this one before you mentioned it! 🤣

I'm struggling to think of a worse football-related take than this!

I see you're a moderator.....can you ban yourself for a while as punishment for it?!?!? 🤣

I assume you'd never seen him play football before making this ridiculous prediction?

I thought it would be a fun one and gambled that he would make the step up. More interesting than the usual safe pick. I thought he had looked good in the Championship, couple of good seasons at Blackburn, he could keep it going. Oh how wrong I was 😭.
