Football Season Predictions 2025/26

Before I calculate the scores from this next week, I would like to do the best/worst signings a little differently this year, since it's usually pretty subjective.

Can I ask all of you to quickly vote for who has been the best and worst out of the options given? Please vote honestly and don't just vote for the ones you said. 😆 I will then use these to award points accordingly.

If my flop prediction doesn't win I'll be appealing along with Southampton, and have a better chance of winning 😄

Interesting how none of the new buys can really be seen as a success. Not all terrible but none really shone this season. Others, none that we predicted, have done much better.

I agree. I put none for the success but think others that were not voted for could have had a shout.
If you appeal don’t moan if you start next season with minus points. 😂

I was shocked to see Isak was not on your list as the biggest flop!! (is that because he was signed after the voting?)

And maybe I'm biased, although it seems some of the players frequently touted as the most successful would be the likes of Mbeumo, Zubimendi, Donnarumma, Calvert-Lewin and Lammens. Not sure if any of them were on the list (again, not sure exactly when they were all signed). Therefore I went Kelleher. Not really evaluated him week in, week out, but I remember some stand out saves and Brentford have done well.

Yeah, as an aside to the poll I think it's an interesting discussion who actually have been the best and worst signings, outside of those that we predicted.

It's hard to think of many new signings that were genuinely superb. Kroupi has a case, at Bournemouth? Dewbury-Hall did quite well at Everton. Lammens has done fairly well at United, although following Onana he could hardly fail to be an improvement.

Whereas the list of flops is considerably longer... Harvey Elliott has a strong case, given how horribly that's gone. Wissa at Newcastle. Trafford - although he can feel a bit hard-done-by. Surprised nobody predicted Garnacho, unless it happened too late, I can't recall. Isak as well. Dibling is another candidate.

Yes. I did say I would allow people to change their votes to somebody who had moved on deadline day - but nobody took me up on that.

I assume that the list was only players voted for by us.
Seems pointless putting players in that nobody voted for

Actually, I'm glad I didn't change my vote for biggest flop having just looked at who I picked.

However, I think I've had a shocker with all my other answers. Mind you, who would have predicted Man Utd finishing 3rd, Liverpool and Chelsea being so poor, and Leeds and Sunderland doing well to stay in the league? I'll be interested to see the final results.

Yeah, didn't think about that. Wasn't sure if nobody voted for the actual biggest flop or hit, nobody would get points. Or the points just go to the person(s) who pick the best candidate from all answers given

I think this aspect has made the season more fun. I'm pretty sure I had Sunderland going down. Now, I'd vote for them as team of the season. Sport is way more fun when results are not guaranteed.

I’m presuming and sure Ori will confirm either way that we just pick on players we voted on.
I voted none from the list for best signing which I thought was a good option to include.

Based on what we know so far, there will be quite a few docked points going round. 😆 A few people had Forest or Spurs for 6th so they'll be losing a point since those teams were in a relegation battle. Inversely, plenty put Brentford and a few put Bournemouth for relegation, so as they look to be in the European places, that's a docked point as well. One person actually had Arteta for first sacking which I'm tempted to dock 2 for, but we'll keep it as 1 I think. 😁

I will see what the results say - if there is a clear 1st and 2nd then it'll be 2 and 1 points for those. If 'none of these' gets the most votes then perhaps no points will be awarded. Or if the votes are scattered maybe I'll give a point for a few answers. We'll see how it goes.

I like the fact your judge, jury and executioner.
Have the EFL been in touch yet to offer you a job?

I hope that people on here were better than the Opta Super Computer which managed to get every team wrong this season, some by up to 10 positions. They had Liverpool to win and Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley all to go straight back down.
