Not sure if covered.. but what’s happening with Eggs … can’t see to be able to find large (12 egg packs) … are eggs the new Pasta or have chooks stopped having fun

As always, if people don't panic then there won't be an issue. Sadly................

We were shopping in aldi in bedlington yesterday, loads of eggs. The two big Morrison's near me also don't have a problem, yet anyway. This is a story the media seemed determined to make happen.

Don't forget, those who are struggling to find eggs, there will be plenty of farms where you can buy directly. (Not much use if you are in a city to be fair but for those a bit more rural, give it a go)

Shortage due to bird flue and mass cullings of chickens.

Seen a few stories of it being down to supermarkets refusing to pay farmers an increase even though their costs are going through roof ..

Have to say very believable..supermarkets do love to screw over suppliers

From the article I linked “Morrisons said it currently has no major supply issues and only sells British eggs.”

Heard some alarmist on the telly going on about how this could ruin Christmas because of a Turkey shortage! ?

People do like to talk up a panic ?. It's become a thing in recent years. I wouldn't mind a shortage, I lose the argument over turkey every Christmas.

My local Sainsbury and Coop not having many eggs. Coop only seem to do 6 packs rather than 12. Strange since they should have a coop

I will check out Morrisons since not much option to go and find farms locally

Sainsbury's are importing eggs from Italy as they refuse to pay UK farmers a fair price. There have been 8 million less birds bought by farmers already so expect even less UK eggs next year.

It's about time people started thinking more about where their food comes from. It's UK apple season and yet so many shops are not stocking them:mad:

Places like Sainsbury’s only care about their profits

Local farmers expenses have gone through the roof so they need to charge more for their product but the big supermarkets will just search for the cheapest

Farm shops for our fruits and veg each week and milk from a local diary

While I agree with the principle behind this paying British farmers the right price; there are plenty of people in this country that need cheap (imported) eggs. It would be vile if Sains is buying imported battery eggs and selling it for organic Brit egg price. But I don’t know that.

Went to Asda this morning to get some batteries....wife wanted me to pick up a couple of things, eggs being one of them. Supply was pretty limited, but they did have some. I was there first thing though, so if they didn't put more out I would think they would be gone within a few hours.
