As a side bet for pride, my Saturday group keeps a running total of our Eclectic scores from the day we move off mats in Spring to any day now when we will go back to them. There are two courses at my club, and yesterday I finally parred the last of the 36 for this year (430 yard dogleg right over trees with water left and straight on) from the back tees, thus achieving just in time one of my goals for the year. With birdies on 10 of the holes as well, I'm looking forward to the big reveal shortly!

It's amazing how often through the year you'll see a putt drop and a fist pumping "that's for my eclectic!" when you least expect it, and how each of us seems to have an elusive hole or two that we chase.

Do any of you do anything similar?

No, not done this.

An old school pal is over from NZ and we played a texas scramble type game a few weeks ago where we both played two balls. Best ball of the four was picked and played 4 from there etc went around in -7. I thoroughly enjoyed it but seemed a bit like cheating.

Last week we tried a variation of it where the 2nd best ball was picked. In essence for the putting, to get a birdie we had to hole two balls. Went round level par. I also enjoyed this.

Only trouble is that the time it takes, it couldn't be done when busy.
