With the bad weather starting to set in I would quite like to have a driving range session every now and again to keep my eye in. Ideally, where you can also have access to a launch monitor as you hit balls.

Probably asking alot, but does anyone know of anywhere in Surrey (near Farnham / Guildford area) where you could find that?

Thanks
GS

Silvermere. You can arrange lessons, fits, etc. that allow you hit proper Srixon Z-star balls down the range, with a GC2-HMT. All within your own massive bay (four of them BTW) with huge screens. It will cost some extra though, but not as much as purchasing your own LM :D

World of Golf in New Malden has Protracer in quite a few of its range bays, and its free to use it:

These both sound brilliant. I want one in Leeds.

They also have a new performance studio at World of Golf which has Trackman, GC2, and gives you 15 minutes free, and then you can book lessons, or I think you can book time in there on your own too. I've not used it myself yet though.

Laurence down at Surbiton Golf Studio has a GC2 Launch Monitor, with the Foresight simulator, and also has access to the very fun Golfzon simulator too. I paid £100 for 10 sessions down there, it's great fun, would highly recommend. Check out @GolfDNAltd on Twitter for a bit more info.

This sounds awesome if true? So i can turn up buy a bucket of balls and rent out the GC2 for X amount of time without a teaching pro??

Not quite! You can use the GC2 but only as part of lessons or a fit. Its certainly unlikely that you'll be 'left alone' with £6k's worth of kit. :D

But I like the idea of doing your own thing. Just doesn't happen at Silvermere currently.

Thats a shame. Definitely has potential that idea though!

I've used the flightscope at world of golf a few times. Now they have an app to use with it it's actually really good. The balls there are reduced distance ones so you have to set the option for calibrated yardages but the numbers seem pretty close to what I see on course. It's not like using a trackman or gc2 but it definitely improves the standard range experience and helps justify their prices.

I'm not sure how accurate Protracer's distances are, but what's really fun is the games they have built in. I spent ages playing the wedge target game a few weeks back, and boy has it helped me hit target, everytime I had a wedge in hand on Saturday I was taking dead aim on the pins.

Thanks, I have had a fitting at Silvermere and their fitting studios are impressive, but obviously I dont want to be having a fit every time and they dont seem to let you use the monitors. Portsmouth Golf Centre which is a little far from me only charges £25 for a fit, but I would happily pay that for 1 hour on a launch monitor. Googling it I see this place also has it http://www.121golf.co.uk/gc2-launch-monitor/ ,but again a little far from me.

Just want to be able to buy a bucket of balls and hit them getting that feedback, not everytime, but once a month would be nice. Might give World of Golf a try, although that is also close to an hour drive from me.

He might do but I have so far left 3 messages and yet to get a call back!!!

Not sure exactly where you are George but Leaderboard Golf in Reading might be worth a shout. I'm sure when I got a driver from there they said you could use the monitor when there wasn't a fitting being done for a small charge

Thanks mate, thats about 1 hour drive for me. I am in Hindhead...which seems to be blessed with golf courses, but short on ranges.

Yeah, I had a very similar experience. I ended up emailing through the website and said that I'd tried to call but got no response, and am thinking of trying elsewhere, and he ended up ringing a couple of hours later.

Don't they have a GC2 at Grayshott range? ;)

The Grayshott range I think has closed down, they sold it to some religious sect! I assume you are kidding though because you would consider yourself lucky to leave Grayshott range without cholera nevermind a GC2!
