We all have that one course we’ve always wanted to play. Personally, I’ve always dreamed of teeing off at Turnberry. Has anyone here had the chance to play there? Any tips or stories to share?

Joined The Devil’s Back when they were doing Turnberry to give myself a shot and hoping it comes round again although to be fair any of those venues are dream boat.

I was down there today just for lunch guy was saying the Alisa will be open on 18th June so plan to take my son down for a round he’s played the Robert the Bruce and 9 hole Arran and he’s desperate to play Alisa cause I said it was even better.
If I was to pick one I want to really play I think it would be Loch Lomond guy I know played it years ago and he’s played a lot of nice courses and it’s his all time favourite.

Played there with my wife quite a few years ago.
I stiffed a 3 iron on the 4th (made a comfortable 2), went up to the red tees and my wife proceeded to hole her 7 iron.
We bought drinks for the group ahead (who saw it go in) and the group ahead of them who we met halfway but not for the rest of the clubhouse, a lot of whom were hotel guests and playing as at those prices it would have been silly money.
The club sent us a lovely signed certificate which we still have somewhere.
I seem to recall that I ‘lost’ that holiday by one hole.
Great memory.

Not really big on bucket list and as a mid handicapper most would be to difficult for me. I played at RCD which was amazing but very difficult. However I've always wanted to play both Sunningdale courses, I think they look stunning. Unfortunately I think nowadays a lottery win is needed to justify the cost.

Had an offer to play Turnberry many years ago, soon after I started golf when I was living and working locally. Unfortunately I got a job interview for the day I was invited and couldn't go and haven't been back since. (At least I got the Job).

Would love to play The Old Course.

Turnberry…yeh right. Sadly it’s currently bottom equal of courses in UK I might play, never mind want to play. Though truth is I have no great dreams to play any particular courses - maybe Cypress Point…but that’ll never happen,

God you’re a miserable lot - it’s almost a badge of honour to seem jaded on here sometimes! It’s just something you think might be cool - not something you’re obligated to then do or pay for. Imagine you won the lottery - what would you want to play then? I’ve been to Pebble Beach, stood on the 1st tee and played their little 9-hole par-3 kids course (even on that, greens were amazing, it has a replica 7th albeit minus the coast - and absolutely fair play to them for making it FREE to under 12s - incredible!). Impossible to argue that that course is not just a bit more special than your average 18 stripes of short grass in a field or along some dunes. Driven round 17 mile drive which takes you along past the other courses on the peninsula. Would love to play their 3 courses on the peninsula and stay in the hotel a few nights. Maybe I’ll sell one of my children on EBay to fund it 😆.

You ok with £1k for a round?

My current attainable targets are Kings Barns and Castle Stuart or whatever it’s called these days.

Turnberry isn't £1000 all the time though is it? Mind you it's not cheap the rest of the time.

I played Castle Stuart and Kingsbarns on consecutive days last year. Absolutely brilliant.

We're only here for a visit!
It is in the summer this year I believe.

For a shortish peak period, I believe. I know a member, I'll ask him to confirm. The headline was prompted by a bit of "you know"
When the headline came out last year, I went onto their website. All the dates I looked at (I think May to September) were £1k.
I can only imagine some Americans would be willing to pay that.

Just had another look. Random day in September is £1000.

Pretty much why I joined The Devil’s Back - about the only chance and good justification for the wife it I land a win!!
