Does know one carry there golf bag anymore

One of the reasons i play golf is to loose weight. So needless to say, i carry my bag. Today on Craigmillar Park know one was carrying there clubs. Whats the crack, am i missing something.

I carried for years and came home with a saw back after every game. Lugging your clubs around is not good for you. As it goes I don't think you will lose alot of weight carrying as its more strength than cardio, my understanding is you need to control calories and get out of breth at least once a day.

We are not made to carry odd shaped inconsistently weighted objects on our backs.

I think that up to a certain age kids should have to carry. I see many with electric trolley on my course. I just think if that had to carry it would strengthen them up for the future.
I personally have a really old pull trolley. However I have just won a comp for an electric trolley so will be changing over!

I have to disagree with you about not loosing weight. I have lost 12kg in 3 months, ever since i started to play again.
I do try and power walk round the course, and yes i walk over greens and i take my clubs on to the tee's. lol

If it's ok to walk across a green with your bag, why do caddies not do it in televised competitions. Players bags are left to the side of the green and carried around it when the hole is finished.

Is there a reason they don't walk across greens carrying their employers equipment?

the caddy has time to walk aound the green as he has more or less given the pro the club to use. plus they are in zero rush. there is no doubt that they take that extra bit of time over every shot. if i took as long as some tour pros my playing partners would go mad plus the extra time wouldnt really affect my game as much as a pro. i can stand there all day if i want but im still not going to get all my chip shots inside a bin lid like a pro.

I don't know what my bag weights but I weight about 9 stone soaking wet, so I can't imagine walking across a green is doing any damage?!

I carry because it speeds up play, myself and my buddy (who also carries) yesterday had to wait on so many tee boxes while the ignorant so-and-sos in the 4 ball ahead ambled about, left their trolleys in areas that meant we couldn't shoot until they had collected their bags and strolled off. As a result they probably thought we couldn't catch up to them, when in fact it was their leaving trolleys in stupid places that slowed us down. The 2 ball that started the round between us and them walked off, wound me right up and had a few blow out holes as a result.

I have no problem with people either carrying or trolleying as long as they do so sensibly.

Nah, all the young low handicappers around my way do it. also you have to have the alignment sticks hanging out to complete the look.
i'm not young (54) but am a low h/c and yes i carry and have my tour sticks hanging from the bag its the only way to go,by the way have never used them but thought it was regulation to have them.

50 is the new 40 ! low handicap, got the sticks hanging out, never used them. yeah, the story checks out my man. your in their gang. if fact you may well have started the trend. :whoo:

My point, Gary, is if they have the option to, why don't they?

Some of the greens on tour are pretty big so it would make sense for them to walk across it, wouldn't it?

i have no idea. maybe its caddie etiquette. i always wonder why one of them always holds the flag. they never just sit it down.

Carry a bag? no. push/pull a trolley? no. I will settle this argument. Everyone needs to get one of these!! It will take over the golfing world... especially good in bunkers..

I think it is just an unwritten rule amongst caddies that they actually do their job. If they just stood there hands in pockets, it wouldnt go down well to their bosses.
Like a barman that is always polishing his......counter, the burgervan man who is always using his paint scraper to keep the hot surface clean in between flipping the meat etc. :D

i see no reason why they couldnt just leave it somewhere handy. line up the putts with their man then pick it up and replace it after the hole is finished. as you say, its probably done to try and keep a professional manner about themselves.

Depends what I'm playing and the conditions. If I'm playing a 36 holer or the weather is dodgy then I use an electric trolley. 18 holes in decent weather it's pencil bag every time. Much more convenient, you can walk straight to your ball or round the side of the greens, no having to trek round pathways etc.

Carry all way through winter and if weather is crap

Your bag on leccy trolley if sunny and nice also if I'm playing in 36 hole events :)
