Does know one carry there golf bag anymore

Haven't had time to read all the posts but i get the general idea....
Iv used a trolley since i started but im now thinking of carrying.......The reason i have the trolley is that my other half decided that she would get it for me one christmas of the same year i ruptured my achilles....I have to say that it did help but after rupturing my other one 8 weeks ago im considering carrying once i get a bit more mobile.....My leg is very weak at the moment but im hoping that once things start falling into place then carrying my bag may help strengthen my legs a bit faster and get my fitness back to the required state that i want it in......

So i guess that i fall into the category of an Injured Golfer but im still thinking of carrying......

As well as that i find that a good share of the lower handicappers at our club carry....Im not really sure why...I think its convenience of being able to walk where you like with the bag and also for the statement of the alignment rods i think the reason they are carried is that a few of the lads that i know who are down around 2 or 3 usually carry them....
More often than not if they have a streaky round then they are straight off onto the practice green once they come off the course....So i suppose its for convenience....

Always carry.

Golf clubs don't weigh that much and with the double straps sharing the weight, it's not hard at all.

I've always carried previously, simply for convenience of getting around the course more quickly but I guess it's just personal preference.

Having not played for a while seriously I'm thinking I'd quite like a buggy with a driver

On the very occasional times that I carry my bag I enjoy it. I always used to carry, makes the job a lot easier and I feel more "at one" with the golf course.
But most of my golfing nowadays involves the GoKart. I'd be lost without it.
I like the fact that you can load the bag up to the gunwhales, loads of drinks, waterproofs, jumper etc. and not have to worry.
As they used to say in the ads "Let the train take the strain"

carried all my life and played with hackers who have remote controlled trolleys and +1 handicaps who also use electric trolleys, as well as both who carry. Its personal preference along the lines of what clothes you wear or clubs you use. I bought a trolley for this year after numerous very wet rounds last year and full heavy bags (that got heavier in the rain) and found how much fresher I was in the back 9 now. Got to be worth 2-3 shots to a low h/capper imo

I carry, mostly out of necessity as I have zero room in my house for a trolley. Plus I enjoy carrying. I don't enjoy it for 36 holers though. In that instance I borrow a trolley (or attempt to and said attempt fails miserably ;))

I enjoy carrying BUT it makes my shoulders ache very quickly. As a skint junior with a leather bag and a single strap it was the one part of the game that I absolutely hated.
Now I can afford it I have an electric trolley.

I don't give 2 hoots whether that makes me lazy, a wimp, or whatever.

Had an electric cart for years, traded it in for a Clic Gear, now I carry all the time, unless it's raining then the Clic Gear comes out of the locker

LMAO if you call just under 3 stone not a lot, your on a different plant.......

If golf is the only exercise you do and you haven't changed your diet then I stand corrected, however, if golf alone was so good for you, how come so many golfers are overweight?

Love it when this argument starts every 2-3 weeks :)

I have a push trolley. I honestly couldn't give a flying one what other people choose to do or why. Completely their choice.

I actually have reasons for using a push trolley when I can (i.e. not over winter) but even if I wasn't carrying injuries I would probably still choose to use a trolley.

Pointless argument, each time....

Average round carrying burns 1,300-1500 calories depending on course length and weight of that person. Even if someone consumed 3,000 calories a day before they gained weight and the same after, three rounds of golf a week would stop them gaining weight and make them lose roughly 1lb per week, maybe more. That's it in simple terms. Obviously each person is different and the calorie intake might be lower to start with depending on diet, and the person may play 5 rounds a week.

I carry, through choice.
If I wanted to use a trolly, then I could. I have a caddy for sunday as it is a club match, so wont be carrying my own bag, dont see the problem.
All the young lads at our place carry, and most people carry over the winter as there is a ban on electric trollys.
What ever tickles people fancy I guess. Not sure of the difference to the game carrying or trollies makes, I like to have my bag close by usually as it makes me feel comfortable.

Don't you have to get your heart rate up to lose weight though? You can burn calories standing still. Obviously everyone is different but I know for a fact that if I don't run a couple of times a week on top of golf I put weight on. Walking round a golf course isn't the slightest bit taxing to me and I most certainly wouldn't class it as weight losing exercise.

Apart from when I was a little kid, when I had a pull trolley, I've carried.
But now I have a leccy trolley. Bought after playing scratch cups etc and all those better than me were using them. So decided that if it's of any use to them it may be to me as well. Also I've got a knackered back.
I also have a pencil bag for social/9 hole knocks, as well as my stand bag for when going away and can't get too many trolleys & bags etc in the boot.

Or course i have changed my diet.

You won't loose that kind of weight from just changing your diet.

I cant speak for anyone else, so i won't.

Like i said, i power walk. And the courses i play are quite hilly.

I just don't understand what the problem is! What difference does it make if I carry or use a trolley? Does it impact your game? If it does then you've got a problem.
Is there anything else that annoys you about others? The driver they use? The shoes they wear?

Chill out, my man.

One of the reasons i play golf is to loose weight. So needless to say, i carry my bag. Today on Craigmillar Park know one was carrying there clubs. Whats the crack, am i missing something.
