Do you let injuries stop you playing?

I normally play through, unless it's back related, when I can't.

I am a bit better today, so iam going to try playing, after a good warm up first. Its probably a bad idea, but I am bored of not playing, when everyone else is!

What can go wrong?

Well, it didn't work out quite as I'd planned. I hit a few in the indoor nets, but a half swing was about the best I could manage. A few pitches on the practice chipping green, and it was all down hill from there. Putting wasn't great either.

So..... I'm setting the alarm for tomorrows swindle.

Idiot.

Apart from a bit of golfers elbow which I've treated with ibuprofen and ice I've been relatively injury free. That said I'm struggling lately with a large number of D&V type illnesses and a lot of colds which have meant I've had to pull out of some comps and miss the weekend roll ups

For injury or illness to keep me from playing there needs to be a chance of amputation or impending death.....

If I can walk round and swing a club - game on

To be honest there's always an ache or pain somewhere, normally knees or ankles - my right ankle has hurt for the last 10 years since I smashed it. If I didn't play because of pain I'd never get the clubs out.

My back is stiff from playing yesterday but if the rain clears and I get a chance to get out this afternoon I will. Generally play through the pain unless my back seizes up and then have to rest.

Well it wasn't too bad. Three shanks weren't good, but I played ok. It's odd hitting punched 4 irons from 150, but heck, it worked. Club selection is all guess work, as I have no idea how far a 1/2 swing with any given club will go, but I'll settle for 31 points in the swindle.

Is my back ok? I have no idea, I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I didn't used to let it stop me. I have problems with my back these days and when its bad I cannot turn so even trying to play golf is pointless. I havent bit a ball in 3 weeks and it will be next week until I try and play again.

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately. Last year I played quite a bit with a strain in the back of my right hand. It was tough going and really messed me up at times. I won't be doing that again. However, recently I developed a cyst on my neck that became infected and ridiculously sore. I played three times with this monstrosity growing out of me and managed to play rather well! I think it was having to slow everything down and not being able to rotate my neck to see how far I was about to duff it!
