Do you enjoy playing in strong winds?

I do not enjoy playing in the wind especially something like a 3 club wind however over the last few months I have grasped the fact that I need to learn to play in the wind.

Our course is exposed to winds almost daily although I only play it on a Sunday.

It is a slog but it is the same for everyone so its the mentally tough that will be near the top of the leaderboard.

Sometimes I find it harder to gauge distance with the wind behind rather than into my face.

Putting can be a bit of a lottery as well.

I don't particularly enjoy it, actually I don't like it at all from an enjoyment point of view.

The only saving grace is that it makes my chances a little better because a lot of amateur golfers only have 1 distance for each club and that's the one they're going to hit.

Played a medal in a gust 20-25mph wind on Saturday. On Sunday it was gusting at 30mph+ and really tricky. I wasn't playing great and found the whole process a chore, I didn't enjoy it and coupled with chopping like a beginner I had enough after ten holes, I don't like playing in the wind too much as I don't have the game to control my ball well especially knock down shots

We play golf in the U.K. - there will be many days were it's windy or raining or sunny or cold etc , if we waited for the perfect sunny day we would play once a month.

Playing in the differing weather brings in loads of different challenges that for me help develop your game , forcing you to play punches or knock down type shots with shorter swings helps you with your ball striking I found. Also brings in different challenges in regards Club selections and Course management.

I live on the coast, a "still" day here is probably 10mph so have no choice!!

Don't mind wind really, lose enthusiasm pretty rapidly if it's raining though.......

I hate it! This winter has been really windy.

One of the worst bits for me is that you can hit great shots to get on the green and if it is really windy a 3 putt is almost inevitable.

practised yesterday was hitting lazy wedges to a flag, same spot today was crunching 6 irons and not getting to the same flag! we get it pretty bad for an inland course, like most i dont mind it up to a point, but there is a point where it becomes too hard (and those 70+mph gusts a month back were that!!!)

It's a challenge to be enjoyed. Really makes you concentrate on strike...and that's not a bad thing

Hate the rain well more than the wind.

If in a comp of 40 or more, prefer it to be windy, so the sunny weekend warriors have less chance of winning.:D

Its the golfing version of "Ah, but can he do it on a cold Tuesday at Stoke".

Yes I like playing in the wind.

My course is at around 1000 feet above sea level anyway so like others, you have to play on windy days as every day is windy!

I like hitting low punched 7 irons instead of wedges - takes skill to get it right. Good fun.

I must be a "divi" I guess.

I don't mind the wind. There is something strangely satisfying about seeing a 140 yard 5 iron start low and rise up in the wind before touching down softly onto the middle of a green.

Wind + driving rain is not pleasant !!

140 yard 5 iron is not that windy!

I have played plenty times when you struggle to get a 5 iron much past 100 yards.

I don't mind the flags fluttering a little bit, but if they're veering towards horizontal, forget it.
I have a bad habit of "swaying" and playing in strong winds just exaggerates the problem. Lots of fat and thin shots.
Rain, I don't mind too much if it is coming straight down, but when combined with a breeze, again forget it. I won't even bother venturing out onto the course.
Wearing glasses, rain combined with wind makes it impossible to see a thing. Like trying to play through steamed up, bathroom windows.
Yes, I've tried contacts but can't get on with them.

I don't mind it and as others it's rare I play on a calm day with playing Mostly moorland courses, anything more than a 3 club wind though and I think it
starts to get a little silly.
