Needing help guys, I played my local course today Murrayshall and had a total nightmare, I've just finished 3x13 hour nightshifts and had around 5 hours sleep over the three days, so today when I went out feeling tired and stiff.

Anyway I started playing golf for the first time in November 2011 and have slowly been getting better, few great holes few nightmares, today it took me to the 6th before I got a par. On the 7th I hit three out of bounds off the tee, and chucked a NR on that hole. The 9th was of a similar vain and I decided it was back to bed for me as the later 9 is a tiring walk.

I love my golf and I am becoming a golf bore with my workmates but do I put today down to exhaustion or a bad day.

Felt so bad for walking off, I've booked a lesson for thursday and fingers crossed I get some sleep.

Anyone else chucked it halfway round?

Alan, I know where you are coming from, i do shift work too, 4 on 4 off. 2 blocks day shift then the next two blocks night shift. i like the night shift cos it means I can get a few hours kip then get the medal in, in the afternoon and then go back to work, however it does come at a cost as every time I done this last season i had terrible rounds. Even if I felt good they were still terrible. deff down to lack of concentration because your body is all over the place and your heads a mess too. Prob won't try it too much this season but yes I do know where you are coming from. Sometimes it might be better just to miss it that week and have the well needed rest. i wouldn't let it get to you though.

Thanks Hendo, I know what you mean my putts weren't even in the right direction today, but I'm going back out tomorrow to get over it and hopefully stop the rot.

Cheers

Been waiting four weeks for a round & went out drinking Friday night after a long work week thrown in too.....disaster round on Saturday after 4 hours kip, feel like I really cheated myself and blew £35 quid green fees into the bargain, no warm up, no practice, couldn't remember how to hit off the tee, no putt of note all on top of a hangover.......at least I only need to wait 2 weeks for next game this time!

Alan - What course did you play at Murrayshall. I am playing the Murrayshall on Sunday for the 1st time, just wondering what kind of condition its in? Thanks!

Good advice this - I used to do 12 hour shifts when I started playing. We tried to get down to the club after the last night shift and about 4 or 5 hours kip. Never had a good round and we all came off depressed.

Gave that approach up and started playing later in the day in summer or the next day in winter and scores (and moods) improved dramatically.

Played Murrayshall. It's in fair to good condition at the moment, played well today do I'm a happy man today.

Thanks Alan, looking forwad to my round

Watch the 4th its a tricky wee par 3 over a pond, playing havoc with my scores at the minute.

Enjoy and treat yourself to a bacon roll in the bar afterwards they are fantastic.
