Did you win?

in reply to the original post -

certainly not.

Played Ballochmyle Open on Saturday and put first tee shot over the fence on the right of the fairway and out of bounds :o That was after taking a three iron off the tee for safety. Did well to keep a score for the rest of the 17 holes as well, eventually getting to gross 97 less 17. Wedge shots form inside 100 yards was much better and some decent drives, so over all not too bad.

Played additional stroke comp on Sunday at ours and was only one over after three :whoo: A few silly shots and found two different tee shots suspended 2 feet off the ground in whin bushes !! The rough at Bogside is well up now, so pleased to keep a score for 18 holes and only had 28 putts.

At least there is always next week.

Had a great golfing weekend.
The weather was fantastic.
The 2 courses[Ilfracombe and East Devon were in superb condition.
The company was good.
The food was good.
No joy at Ilfracombe.
However my partner and me were 2nd when we left East Devon with well over half the field in.
Could be a nice voucher coming.
If only I never had to work for a living,i think my life would be just grand.

Didnt win but played well , when your 4 over after the first signs aint good .. lipped out for par on the last to finish +6 , course was set up hard , off the blues & tough rough .. guy off 6 shot 71 nett 65 to win, gross was 70 (-2) buy a guy off scratch ..

The end of another weekend.
Did you win the medal/ s/ford?
Were there any horrendous scores in?

No I NR'd again for the 4th round on the bounce.

A nasty slice/shank with my irons has appeared into my game and It's not good.

My iron ball striking is the strongest part of my game but I just can't get rid of this and I becoming concerned big-time.

I had this same problem about a month ago mate before i had a few lessons with the pro to cure it. I leaving the face wide open at impact which results in shank like shots. The pro got me doing a few things to improve it but it was setting my wrists wrong on backswing which was resulting in face being open.

Its frightening isnt it!

I carried on from last week. I hit the ball great but I can't get the ball in the hole.

14 out of 18 greens with 39, yes THIRTY NINE putts!

I finished with a 74 nett 69, 66 won so it was a case of what could have been.

Came 3rd in the medal despite a horrendous 8 on the Par 3 4th :o Nett double bogey meant I hit buffer though as recovered and play tidily (ish) from then on. Practice rounds on my own on Wed and Fri then social games at the weekend which I enjoyed - apart from really struggling with the rough yesterday which ended in a bit of a hissy fit!!

I asked as I was told you cant get a cut when putting in Sup cards.

It's not the Supplementary Card that prevents you from getting cut. It may be fact that your handicap is 'inactive' that prevents it - though I don't believe there is anything in the UHS that precludes this - it may be a Club rule. I do know that scores for 'Inactive' entries are not included for CSS calculation in general comps, so there may be a 'hidden' rule.

There would be little point to Supplementary Cards if they didn't potentially affect handicaps!

Club champs for me this weekend. Played so bad but scrambled around the greens like Seve. 7 over after 7 I thought oh dear but managed to par 9 out of the last 11 holes without hitting one green in reg. My 9 iron around the green saved me. Afternoon round wasn't much better but still kept it double free for a 11 over. 0.2 back for me but at least it wasn't a complete embarrassment.

Our results aren't in yet but from the sounds of it I didn't win, didn't have a bad score, but didn't win.
My mate had his worst round ever shooting 15 over par net, 31 gross.
The only thing I can take away from my round is playing the back 9 7 over gross but the front nine was a nightmare.
Great weather, great company and my daughter winning on Sunday made up for it though.

Won the annual cricket club golf day on the Par 3 at Redbourne by 10 shots on Saturday.

Sunday I think I may have missed buffer by 1 shot after a mid round collapse.....:o

Started off OK, hit my longest ever drive at the 1st, 45 yards pitch to 3 feet, missed the birdie putt. Par 5 2nd, missed a four foot birdie putt. A few scrappy bogies, a few solid pars and 20 points on the front 9. Back 9 started with a few scrappy bogies, then splashed one at the par-3 14th, 3 shots in the bunker at the next and a rubbish back 9 for 33 points total. Not a birdie all day.

i'm off 9 but didn't break 90 this weekend. didn't even hit it that badly, but managed to bogey pretty much every hole. every GIR i 3 putted, every green i didn't hit i couldn't get it up and down. it was a real toil and the first time in a long time i've been disenchanted with the game.

didn't make a par until the 17 and that was a missed 6 foot birdie.

need new clubs. obviously.

This weekend saw two singles match play matches for me.

Saturday was the Surrey 5's against Shirley Park, which is a great course, I was well impressed with it. I was 4 down at the turn, but turned it round to be dormie 2 UP after 16, lost the 17th but halved the 18th with par's to win 1 up.

We lost the match 3&2 though, so didnt progress to the next round :-(

Yesterday was another round in one of our club matchplay events, I really wasnt playing well at all and was 4 down after 6!! Pulled it back a little to 2 down after 14 but pulled my drive on 15 into the bushes and despite going back to play 3 off the tee, i still had a put for half but it was awkward and didnt go in, so once 16 was halved i lost 3&2

I do like match play though, it's a great form to play.

Friday - Pyrford, shocking.
Saturday - 4BBB. Scored 36pts off 3/4 on my own, team total = 38pts. Comp won with 50pts, half of which was a lady off 19 going round in 76.
Sunday - Notts, shocking.

beat Liverbirdie on Saturday evening. quite comfortably I might add ;)

level par front 9 did the damage before wobbling home for 37 points with two blanks !

Was going great guns till the 15th where the flag was front left which is very sloped. Chipped on & it rolled back to the fringe - no worries I thought a little 8 iron knock to the hole & left it short by about 3 foot - rolled back off again. Chipped it on & hit the sprinkler head & pinged off into some garbage. Ended up with an 8 when should have been a 4. Parred the next to steady the ship then went tripple bogey on the 17th. Between them (my performance on) those holes cost me the divison win and 0.1 back on the HC!!:o
