Did you get to where you wanted to be this season

The year hasnt finished yet , who knows single figures is still a remote possibility. In the past 12 months I dropped 2 shots so I'm quite happy. Won the August and June medals but since then an unwanted slice has put pay to further progress. I think I'm on the mend again, will have to see this Sunday.

Started in July, totally fell in love with the game, hit 100 twice would like to get under that if poss by the end of the year, but not to worried as I just enjoy playing, I will join a club in the New Year and try and get to work on my handicap

Only downside.....I did not start playing years ago!!

Target was to consolidate my 8 handicap and maybe drop it a shot.
To drop to 4.7 wasn't in the plan though. For several weeks around August/September/October I was playing superbly and got chopped. Started ok with new handicap but in the last couple of weeks my game has deserted me big time and I'm finding life hard.
Definitely trying to consolidate next year.

I've had the best years golf i can remember since my teens. Joined Irvine Bogside as a temp member while i'm on the waiting list so no competitions or handicap. Discovered links golf as a result, played 2 or 3 times a month at various courses, and learned to enjoy every minute on the course. Wouldn't fancy non competitive golf forever, but definitely have a fresh outlook on the game and look forward to my weekend round.

Yes and no...

Got the golf bug back bigtime in the summer after a few years off, played socially to around 24 but managed to break 90 once or twice, joined a club and had a good knock for my 3rd card and was given 17 for my first handicap. Played 4 times a week for a month orso and started regularly playing to 15/16 much to my surprise, started a new job a few weeks ago wich doesnt allow me to play in the week anymore :( my my how fast i have lost the new skills/form i had gained... first ever comp today and not expecting great things at all, but still happy i know i can play to below 20 wich seemed impossible a few moths ago, but real life (£) has come first and my goal of getting to 10 by next summer is thoroughly on hold! :)

Got first handicap this year. 22 then went well down to 18 by May and been there ever since which is a disappointment as I wanted 15 this year playing about once a week. Reality is I need a lesson ot two on my irons and too many three putts.

Yes I did. I only play corporate golf with any serious intent at the moment and that is with a society called the Aircraft Golfing Society.

My society handicap is 2 and I have played in seven events this year. Each event has an attendance of 45-70 players so it is not easy to do well. I managed a win at Hankley Common, two 3rd places at Woburn Dukes and St Georges Hill then a 4th place at the second visit to St Georges. These results plus a 6th place at West Hill were enough to win me the prestigious Golfer Of The Year Trophy and I was very chuffed indeed. I got a nice prize and a lovely trophy but it was the kudos that meant it was special.

The above has been noted for the next time you play a Forum Meet Snelly.:p

Well played, but a shame you don't get to play any decent courses.:)

Quite! In fact, I am not sure if you know but Rick was the runner up in the Rookie of the year competition too. A forum double whammy would've been very nice!

We have just done the fixtures for next year and they will be published at Christmas. Looks good: St Georges Hill x 2, The Grove, Sunningdale, Walton Heath, Kingswood, The Berkshire, West Hill, Hankley Common, Forest of Arden, Woburn, Liphook and Swinley Forest. Plus we have a trip arranged as a society to Mallorca to play three excellent courses there.

If anyone has the remotest connection to aerospace and would like to join then please send me a PM and I will see if I can sort it out..

Cheers,

Snelly.

That is like the best society fixtures list I've ever seen! Some awesome tracks in there. It's actually got me considering a career change... Does being a big Top Gun fan count?

On the OP no I didn't achieve my seasons goals. The plan was for my handicap to go DOWN and not up. Though I do believe that I am a better player than I was a year ago...

Might be worth considering joining the Surrey Chamber of Commerce. Their next golf society days are at Burhill, Woking, St Georges Hill, West Hill, West Byfleet, Worplesdon and Cuddington. Not sure I could get away with putting the cost through the business though.:)

I did better than I expected this year.

Originally set m goal at breaking 20 (from 24), but managed that quite early in the season. Re-set my goal to breaking 18.

I didn't quite get there but had a very good season, 3 wins and a runner up (bloody count back ) so I can't complain.

Didn't really have specific targets but handicap has come down much more than I though (from 12 or 11 to 6).

Had a bad spell when I got to about 8/7 as I felt I had to play my best every time and went to pieces. Thankfully got through that by going back to my old, more relaxed way of playing and thinking about golf and got the rewards.

Course is being "toughened" over the winter and re-measured so getting my handicap back to where it is next year could be a challenge.........

Went backwards this year, up to 11.7, had been hoping to push into single figures as was 10.2, but change in jobs and less practice time has made it tough to get there, hopefully next year will be different!
