I'm going to replace my irons in the coming months and have just been made aware of a Demo day at Direct Golf in Huddersfield this weekend.

You get 20 minutes with the company of your choice and it is free.

I'm always wary of things like this, as I will not be in a position to buy but feel guilty of wasting their time.

Do many people just go and try and not buy, will they expect this?

Also if I do go should I take my own club(s) so they can compare?

Any advices from experienced Demo dayers appreciated

No need to feel guilty as a lot of these companies recognise especially at the moment that a lot of people can't change their kit as quickly or often as maybe a year ago. The whole thing is that it s a demo day and it is there to give people a chance to try the models best suited to their game. In some cases it may be a way of trying other makes you may not have fancied before. Go along, be honest about your abilities and enjoy the experience. I love demo days

Booked in with TM, Nike and Callaway - 20 minutes with each.

going to spend the rest of my (working) day seeing what irons the three offer so I have a little bit of knowledge.

It's going to be into the winter before I can really consider buying which I want/need to do. Unless they come up with a knock your sock off offer. Or a 0% deal.

I can't wait now.

71 hrs 45 minutes to go...

The key thing is, open mind. The other key thing is leave the credit card at home.
Also bear in mind that a full on iron c/f takes about 2 hours (if you know what you want - I only wanted Titleist ZBs, and it still took an hour and 45), so if you are trying different models, in 20 minutes you will get a taster, but don't buy on spec, as loft / lie / length / shaft spec / grip size etc take longer to sort out than this.
Be interesting though.

those I've been to have been a bit of a free-for-all. some have booked appointments, which usually seem to overrun, or are underbooked to the point of embarrassment. most just turn up, grab a club and have a bash. you don't get on the monitor this way but for most it's secondary to playing with new toys.

Most ofthe days I've been on have had pre-booked times for monitor sessions and like Viscount usually overrun to the point of making the whole schedule a mockery. They are great if you want to ry as load of different models but I think if you decide on one you like and want to go to a C/F session then I'd book something at either their head offices/fitting centres or via an approved fitter nearest you

Enjoy the day. Cant tell you how often Ive said something like 'It's going to be into the xxxx before I can really consider buying'
In fact I'll put a little bet with you that you buy somthing on Saturday. Lets say £5 in our respective captains charities. ;) ;)

Good job I'm not a member anywhere then...

Anyway, I bought the wife a fridgefreezer on Monday so there is not a hope in hell of any other biggies this month.

Although if they offer a really good deal on some irons I really like...
