So, I currently have a 32gb 3gs and contract renewal is due in 2 weeks time.

its a toss up between either an iphone 4s, HTC X1 or the Galaxy Note

iphone was my immediate pull having got one already and a few apps but I hate itunes and would love it off my pc.

this is where an android based phone comes in, the HTC is quad core and has the new Android ice cream sandwich OS, apparently very slick although a little bigger than iphone. the note may be too big anyway so only a very small possible.

What am I after in a phone? decent camera (iphone 3gs one sucks and not sure how the 4s compares), easy pc integration for music, email, contacts etc. Apps including maps/sat nav, golfshot (which I have on iphone) and thats pretty much it.

What do ya reckon? Stick with what I know and go the 4s or take a punt on android and the very nice albeit large X1....

I don't really use my pc at all with my iPad. Everything runs direct from the device, no need to switch the pc on not even for upgrades.

X1 seems good, been reading quite a few problems that initial buyers have at the moment, slowly getting sorted. Note is even bigger than the x1 but good as tablet style too.

Personally I wanna see what the Samsung galaxy s3 feels like before committing.

If all else fails get the one that you get for free, and you can sell it one straight away and buy another. Note sells for around £300 and the 4S and X1 sell for around £350

I like my pc but am debating moving to laptop as I no longer game anymore so its an expensive web browser, the ipad is rarely used or synced for that matter as I just dont get on with it, prefer a proper keyboard/screen for browsing etc.

I can get any for free as I have one of the top price plans... it is a tough call as all are decent in their own right.

Wait for the iPhone5 due out in a few months, worth the wait, dont get the iPhone4s, its good but not as good as the iPhone5 will be

I don't think for camera usage you'll find any real difference between the phones. The iPhone 4s is very decent, some nice adding too (just downloaded a great slo-mo camera app for the iPad).

If you early don't want iTunes then I'd probably go for the x1 (purely on size being suited for me pocket).

I don't believe the hype of iPhone 5 .. After all everyone was telling us that the last launch was the iPhone 5 and it was going to be awesome ... Then out came the 4s. For me the constant waiting for the next phone will pretty much mean you never buy one.

The One X is huge - honestly it's massive.
I've got the One S and all the reviews reckon it's as good as the X.
Light, slim and does more than enough, quick enough as far as I'm concerned.
Half decent battery life too especially if you turn the screen brightness down to about a 1/3...

hmmm, some say June, likelihood is october, sod waiting 5 months :)

yeah my son has the One X coming on monday and I got him a case & sock off ebay, its a good deal bigger than my 3gs, thing is size isnt an issue as I have my phones in cradles in the car or van and dont carry into customers premises when working.

I could get the 4s and the ping putter app/cradle :D

Samsung Galaxy 3 looks amazing and will certainly be the phone to beat when it hits the stores.

I think that Apple have been reeled in, and cant see that they will produce anything that will blow the newest handsets from Samsung, HTC etc.

You pays your money :D

Does anyone have the Galaxy S2? If so, what's it like? I am thinking of upgrading my Nokia 3510i (lol etc...) as I need to get with the times. I am on O2 and have found a deal for £20 a month with enough texts, calls, data etc...still with O2 but can I take my number with me easily enough? Does my SIM from the Nokia go into the S2?CheersAl

If your staying with O2 then they will upgrade your sim if required.

I have the S2 and it's a great phone, but after playing with the HTC One X it feels a little slow :D

If your new to smart phones then it's a great one to start with.

I've just ordered a sony xperia s on o2. I was looking at the galaxy s2, but preferred the look and feel of the sony. It also had 32g internal memory. I'm replacing my iphone 3gs for this, mainly to get onto o2 as vodafone has poor coverage for work and home for me.

Give the sony a look before deciding?

I actually looked at the sony in the 3 store, the camera is awesome and probably the best on all smartphones

bloody hell, thats another one in the mix (I had forgotten about that 1)

Just googling the Sony Xperia S, looks and sounds pretty good. 12MP camera is probably as good as my Nikon Coolpix too. I shall be having a butchers at this Monday I think. I'd say it looks sleaker too.Cheers guys

I have the Galaxy note and it is simply fantastic. I came from an iphone 3gs and then 4. I couldnt go back now, sounds daft but the extra tune ability with android beats apple into the ground, proper multitasking too.
It is larger than any other phone but to be honest, once you have it, it doesnt feel obtrusive and still fits any pocket etc.
HTC just dont rock my boat these days as I used to be a big fan but their stuff just looks so average these days.
If you wanted to wait a little while, the samsung galaxy S3 would be the boy if the note was a little too big.

One the camera subject, 12mp might sound great but with no optical zoom, it will be no more useful than the 8mp on any other current model.
