so my beloved Galaxy Note 2 got nicked yesterday, wont go into details but lets just say police involved and I have my suspicions. Anyhow 1st it was a ballache reporting it, blocking mobile banking, pingit, changing all my passwords lol.

Now I need a new phone, I am not due an upgrade until June so just gonna buy one and go sim only when renewal comes (probably work out cheaper than upgrading anyway)

As I have anb xbox one I was thinking going with a windows mobile or stick with android. Not going apple again as itunes is banned from my pc :)

Any suggestions? Budget around £200-£250

Definitely do not buy I-phone. I got one when my Galaxy S-3 went walkies and never going there again.

A mate just got an s3 clone for 85 quid. Looks very similar to my s3 a little bulkier but not much. Always an option

I've got a Nokia Lumia 820 on Windows. Different, great for camera, satnav and associated GPS apps. Where it falls down is mainstream app availability. Get sick of seeing "Download the App now" to be followed with 3 links for iOS, Blackberry and Android. Even stuff like banking which is dead annoying. I'm 12 months in and will go for Android next if things don't improve. Other half has a Samsung S4 Mini. Seems pretty good. Think they are all much of a muchness tbh. If you are heavy ish user go for best battery life as some are pretty poor in this department.

Get yourself a Motorola Moto G as a very budget friendly alternative. I bought one for a work spare after one girl had lost her iphone. I have to say it is a great phone (I have a note 2 myself) and found the screen to be even sharper than my samsung. I managed to crack my screen so used it myself for a week and actually quite liked it. Fones4U were doing it new with no contract for £119. You wont find a better phone for double the money nevermind the same amount.

yeah been there, had a 3gs and 4s. Tempted by a note 3 but pricey!

This stupid IOS 7 upgrade is so big it has filled my memory up. I only got he 8Gb as I do not need to carry 5 million songs and pics on it. At least when I had an Galaxy S3 I could have put a bigger memory card in it to expand the memory, but good old apple do not want you doing that , they prefer for you to go and spend £500 on a new phone.

I had a Chinese phone too, awesome phone for the price, keep with the more major manufacturers like Star/oppo etc f your going for one.

Have a look at the Motorola from tesco, good phone for very little money, very tempted myself but my original note is still going strong and running latest firmware 4.4.2 too :)

Love my HTC Sensation, had the Hero before that, can't see me moving away from Android any time soon.

I will always recommend an I phone

Had 5 now and not had a single problem with any of them

Find the ease of use and functionality is far better than any other

Agree with the Moto G, I've just got one myself and it is a cracking phone. Look on google for the reviews. You can get an 8gb one from Tesco for £99. It'll be locked to Tesco but you can get a code from a guy on ebay for about £2. I did this and got the code within about 10mins, worked perfectly. Send me a pm if you want details of the guy I got the code from.

It runs on Android and a new update to Kitkat is now available too.

Never going to do it again. another one of the things that has made me want to go back to Galaxy is the camera on them. Had the same pic taken with a Galaxy S4 and a 5s. It was unreal the difference. My old S2 could have taken a better quality pic than the 5s. One thing I have noticed is that you need to spend a fortune on a big memory as you can't upgrade like you can a Galaxy.

iPhone for me all the way, did the stupid thing of not waiting for the new iPhone 5 to come out and upgraded to a Galaxy S4, I hated it, hated that I had to have a Gmail account to use the app store, hated the way that google wanted you to login to everything to get the best functionality. So It got factory reset and sold on Ebay.

But then for my sins, work decided that Blackberry was not the way forward anymore and went down the Galaxy S4 route, so I still ended up with one for work. Needless to say, I've just put the galaxy on permanent divert to my own iPhone.

Itunes is exactly the same...

If you can spend a bit more I'd recommend the s4 mini.

you could probably find it cheaper if you look around

this is just nonsense...
most reviews even though favouring the s4 overall will still favour the 5s camera

Even dpreview, the leading digital camera review site edged the 5s slightly ahead overall.
There was only 1 point difference in the photo tests favouring the s4, and 4 points ahead in video for the 5s, iPhone won overall.

The cameras are close, most agree that the 5s edges slightly ahead, to say that the 5s camera is much worse than the s4 is just childish fanboyism.

ps. I am not an apple fanboy, just a realist
