After much deliberation I have finally spent my hard earned on the MX-200's.

After speaking to my pro he stated that I should not go with a cavity back as "it would be a step backwards". As I am a 15 handicapper and progressing nicely I thought this a little strange.

I then spoke to Simon (my fitter from Mizuno) and he kindly assured me that the MX-200's should not be though of as a 'game improvement cavity backed iron', in fact he had the MX-200's in his bag up to a couple of weeks ago and he plays off 1 !!!! Now if he played with them, Garrido, Monty and 75% of the women on the pro tour, then surely that tells you something.

As much as I am improving I can not see me getting down to a 5 handicap within the next 12-18mths and these will suit me perfectly, I suppose only time will tell.

Anyway my purchase was made via Snainton who were considerably cheaper than Clays and very helpful. I got the MX-200's with multicompound grips (2 layers tape), Dyanlite XP Stiff shaft, 52deg and 58deg wedges and a MX-700 20deg utility all for £500. Not bad i thought. :D

Aww, come on. He's just bought some great new stcks, which he probably hasn't hit in a game yet, and you're putting the downers on.

I'm not disagreeing with you H. Just that PPE is probably really looking forward to having a great time with them.
It's no diffrent to the bestman at a wedding saying how gorgeous the bride is looking and how 'phowa' she is and then saying that don't all daughters turn out like their mothers anyway!!

Really p'd off my pro today when I told him that I ordered the MX-200's and he thought that it was the wrong move and I should consider getting my money back! as he strongly felt that I would not improve quicker with a cavity backed iron like this and should have gone with the i10 or MP-52.

I was really looking forward to getting these, now I have second thoughts AGAIN!

PPE.

This is going to be very difficult for me to say. I don't know you (but I do know that you maybe a bit indesive, and get buyers remorse), and I've never seen you play or even swing a club.

I have the MX19s and was looking forward to getting to my target of 15 h'cap to purchase a set of MP52s, or whatever is their equivilent in 20 years!!

Having read MWJs (hope I got that right) account of blade(ish) clubs, and my own thoughts about getting the best score, and not looking like I can get a good score, but not being able to. I would support your decision on the MX200s. I know you might think that we're just congratulating you on your purchase, regardless of what you buy. But I got the feeling from the forum that the praise for the MX200 choice, was genuine. For being the right club of the two for you.

Tell the pro to stuff it. Does he have 'X' number of CFs a day as Simon at Clay's does? Does he have all the information that Simon had available at Clay's? Does he have all the different options to try as you did at Clay's?

If the answer to any of these is 'no'. Well there's your answer.

Sour grapes if you ask me.

Enjoy your 200s, and go have a good round, post a phenominal score and hold your head high.

Good luck.

If the data in the c/f suggested the mx-200 the best for YOU then I would say that they are 99.9% the right club for you - the mix of shaft, flex, weight, head and YOUR swing is unique to YOU and is what will work best....you can pigeon hole people all you like and you might get the right answer but having done the physical research yourself at the c/f I would ignore the Pro to be quite honest....
