Orange dot might be a bit short if you are 6’1”, I’m 5’6” and that’s the colour code I would look for.
i didn’t know thats what the dot colours ment. What colour should i be looking for.

Have a go of the Ping tool, it should give you a colour indication to look for.

https://ping.com/en-us/fitting/custom-fitting/iron-color-code-chart

Also, give Golf Bidder a look, theyve got G400, G, G30 and G20’s in stock, they also offer loads of other clubs.

https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/clubbrand/PI/3/Ping_iron_set.html

The colour dot determines the lie, the length is separate. I would imagine you'll be wanting black or blue dot, standard length, possibly 1/2" longer

Ah, my mistake on that then (I did say I wasn’t familiar with how Ping did their colour system), I just noticed that it requested height and had the standard and + / - info in the chart. Always a school day!

You sound like me, hating having to wait for stuff. Personally, if they have been bent to black dot (which your pro should be able to check if he has a loft/lie machine) I think they're worth a punt. You can easily sell them on if they're unsuitable. Guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about so, if he's not too far away, pop round, have a look at them and have a chat with him.

Got the irons. Seem fine but to be honest I wouldn't know. Just need a wood and putter now.
Does it matter what number of wood i get ? Pro today just said as others have said on the forum, stay away from drivers until i learn a bit more.

Nice!

Would maybe get a 4 hybrid over a wood. Then after you have got that look at woods ?

Putter- get down to your nearest American Golf shop or big club pro shop if you know of one, and spend time playing with the putters. AG usually have a decent selection and an area to try them. Try a good few, see what you feel comfortable with.

Based on your posts you are happy to spend a few quid and putters are the easiest to pick up off the shelf and figure out if you like one.

Personally I'd be looking at a hybrid instead of the 4 iron (will be easier to hit for a beginner in my opinion - possibly even a 5 hybrid). I would look at 3W and maybe a 5W (and if you get the hybrids to replace the irons job done and plenty of options off the tee). Golfbidder and other 2nd hand sites would be my port of call. A driver can be bought now (and left until you have lessons) if the price is right. As for a putter it s hugely personal and dependent on what you like the look at, your putting arc and how it feels when you use it. I have noticed that a lot of my local AG stores seem to be depleted in the amount of stock of putters they are carrying

Sounds like you are off to a good start, I’d probably look to add something like;-

3 Wood - https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/product/1047241/Ping_G20.html

Optional 5 Wood - https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/product/1047477/Ping_G20.html

Hybrid - https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/product/1047401/Ping_G25_Hybrid.html

Option 1 Putter - https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/product/1041955/Odyssey_Works_Tank_Cruiser_2-Ball_Fang.html

Option 2 Putter - https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/product/1041854/Taylor_Made_Spider_Tour_Black.html

Then just sort yourself a bag (which ever you prefer);-

Cart Bag - https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Ping-Traverse-Golf-Cart-Bag-Silver-Grey-White.html#SID=1454

Stand Bag - https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/aca...f-Stand-Bag-Black-Scarlet-White.html#SID=1145

Then add a few extra necessities (go with whatever you like, these are purely suggestions);-

Balls (go cheap, you’ll lose a lot) - https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Multi-Purpose_Golf_Balls.html#usestorage

Tees (go with the graduated type) - https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Tees_and_Spikes.html

Gloves (FJ Weathersof is a good all rounder) - https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/FootJoy_Weathersof_Glove.html#SID=5250

Shoes (I’d say FJ or Ecco but others will have different opinion - you wear them for several hours so worth buying a pair or two of good ones imo, I’ve linked Spikeless as that seems to be the choice for most people these days because it’s more versatile) - https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Mens_Golf_Shoes.html#usestorage

Towel - https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Ping-Tri-Fold-Golf-Towel-Black-White.html#SID=5682

Beyond that, trousers, shirts, sweaters, wind/waterproofs etc etc are all personal preference, I got one of these for the colder days and love it;- https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Ping-Breaker-Thermal-Golf-Wind-Jacket-Asphalt.html#SID=4069

Crazy how fast you can soon add more stuff and start spending a fortune, I’m terrible for it lol! Enjoy the little shopping spree that you are inevitably about to go on haha!

lol yea a need to get ping now. So i have budgeted 5k total for golf and thats what im happy to spend. The courses round my way all seem to be priced similar, £1000 entry fee and £1000 joining fee. So that leaves me £3000 for everything else, thinking £2000 golf clubs. 100% buying new clubs, do appreciate everyones advice but just want new. So that leaves £1000 for bag balls and shoes ect plus a few lesson.
You must be looking at Pollok or somewhere like that? I’m pretty new to game too but to north of the city.

Have a look at putters with big fat grips / superstroke grips helps stabilise everything more I find ?

You can carry but if you like to drink a lot of water / spare balls / waterproofs it gets heavy quick.

In my opinion big max trolleys are the best and fold small

Might also want a trolley bag to stop your car getting muddy

I’ve got a stand bag and usually carry, but see a lot of people using stand bags on trolleys (cart bags are usually bigger/heavier and lack the stand feature).

For putters both the two-ball and spider listed on the previous page are favourites for beginners. I’ve been lucky enough to get one of the newer triple-track putters for an absolute bargain (it’s basically an Odyssey Spider lol) and I love it.

https://www.odysseygolf.com/triple-track/putters-2020-triple-track-ten.html

the matching balls with the same alignment system have made putting feel easy to be honest.
