Right so ill just buy the g410s as they come next week as long as i enjoy the lesson. Thats that done.

Most manufacturers have a bit of a backlog after the covid furlough's, many of them are quoting 4 - 8 weeks for deliveries for custom orders. That's pretty good if they have confirmed delivery next week.

If set on new ping all you can do is go by the chart and go from there

Fact you have so much to spend to start with then in a year or two once you have the basics sorted get a fitting then and change what needs changed if your still interested in playing

The g410 are imo great starter irons I started on a half set of g5s then I sold them and got a second hand set of ping g2s (full set)

Was a number of years before I got a fitted set of irons..

Also at your level now paying extra for a custom fit set won't make a world of difference. Get a rough idea on shaft from place you buy the irons from and if your buyin online then ask the pro if he thinks you should go stiff or reg shaft.

Really enjoyed the lesson i was really good at the putting but pretty bad and chipping. Thats what we did today, gave me some drills to practice at home. So now need to get on gumtree and get a old rusty set tonight lol

You can still get some great used clubs, stuff that’s only 3-5 years old will be very affordable (against your current budget) but still offer you a fantastic set of clubs;-

I think my “beginner” bag has cost around £350-400 so far and a lot of the clubs are still pretty much shiny/new (most stuff from around 2017).

Get looking on eBay and post up any questions you might have or what sets you are considering and everyone here will offer any support/advice you might need.

Im not the best with Ping clubs, I believe that the “G’ range of clubs are more forgiving than the “I’ range (G for beginners, I for mid-handicap from what I can tell) that isn’t to say you can’t use “I’ clubs though.

There is also a nifty Ping fitting tool on their website which will help in deciding what colour dot you need:- https://ping.com/en-us/fitting/custom-fitting/iron-color-code-chart

CC Golf seems to have a great range of stock though so I’m sure the guys here would be able to help you piece together a fantastic bag that you can collect tonight/tomorrow (I’ll link their eBay store to make it easier for the next person who replied);- https://ebay.co.uk/usr/ccgolfuk

I'm curious as to how you've decided you need Ping clubs despite never playing before?

That putter is really short at 31.5 inches, wouldn't buy that unless you're quite short yourself or fancy being quite hunched over when you putt. A more normal length for putters would be between 33 and 35 inches I would think.

Ping Irons are for the old-timers at my club ;), all the younger (under retirement age) guys are hitting Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway, Cobra, and the likes, don’t think I’ve seen many Mizuno or Srixons around either tbh (Titleist make the best looking blade irons imo).

I am 6ft 1 so not sure what size putter i would need. Its doesn’t need to be ping anything will do. I watched a YouTube video right before i joined the forum and guy said 4 of the best golfing brands and ping stuck in my head. If anyone could piece together some irons a putter and some sort of wood it would be greatly appreciated

You probably don't want a 31 inch putter then. You would be quite hunched over. I'm 6'0 and I use a 35 inch putter, but I don't grip it right at the top so could manage with a 34 if I had to. I would guess 34 or 35 for you.

Look reasonable and a forgiving set to start with.

We may be giving you a lot of comments on points you already know, if buying them I'd practice with 6 (maybe 5) down to the wedges as more forgiving and easier to hit. See how you get on with the longer 4 iron, but quite often now they've gone out of typical bags on new clubs - 1) because of stronger lofts making a 5 play a bit like a 4 in distance, but 2) as more people hit hybrids (including pros) which are more forgiving for the average golfer. One to consider when you're at the stage of getting new clubs custom fitted.
