Deals to Celtic Manor

Guys,

I am looking to join a few mates that are going to Celtic manor at the end of March and was wondering of any recommendations on compaines to use. So far I have found B&B for around £149 whcih isn't bad.

Has anyone used anyone recently for a good deal?

It's been all over sky sports but looks like end of march is £149+

I'm assuming you can blame the masters for this price increase when we all think we are [insert pro here] and play one of the top 100 courses.

Yep - booked a Sunday night stay at the Celtic manor with a round on the Roman Road and Twenty Ten courses in March a few weeks ago direct through celtic manor - was £160 a head for mid march - end of march gets very expensive as its Easter time!

I've always booked direct with Celtic Manor as have not found anyting cheaper being resold by the usual suspects. However, I did use http://www.welshgolfingholidays.co.uk/ for a trip with by brother a couple of months ago for a links trip to Royal Porthcawl and they were very competitive. They do have deals on CM.

Just watch the weather around then - I played Roman Road end-Sept last year and it was incredibly muddy and quite dangerous in parts. Fairways and greens generally OK - they seem well drained (as you'd expect) - but stray from the short and narrow and it was very difficult. Maybe differtnet in March - dunno. That said our fourball was £25 a head so not really complaining.

If you aren't tied to a weekend and are not fussed about playing the 2010 you can get some amazing deals for the Monty and Roman Road direct with the resort. Alternative you can get a round without staying for £20 and stay in the Newport Holiday Inn, which is right at the entrance to the resort for £30 if you're sharing with someone.

don't go if it has rained or sunny,firstly it is like a bog and secondly the marshalls are constantly on your case and they cram as many as possible on the course and try to make everyone do a 3 hour round.

I've just got back from a break at Celtic Manor last week. We played The Montgomerie & The TwentyTen & both very different courses, but equally punishing. The Monty is ok if you're a mountain goat & the walks between the holes are long aswell. It was very soft underfoot in areas.Had a respectable 17pts on the front 9, but was completely flaked out by the terrain & only finished with 24. The TwentyTen is a much better layout in that respect, but alot longer & very tough on the average golfer. Three times I played a shot to a green only to see the ball roll back off & down a back into a water hazard. Which to me was a bit demoralising.
