Over the weekend I took a gouge out of the sole of one of my irons.

There are sharp burred edges along the edges of the gouge.

What do folks do in this situation? File down the burrs? 'Push' the burrs back into the gouge and try to fill the gouge? Or is there some other way?

Oh. They're cast clubs, not forgred if that makes any difference.

Or is it just a 'war' wound on the clubs, and hard luck?

Thanks.

I've never tried to sort out these 'wounds' on my clubs. Have got several btw , even got a nice one on my 3-wood after hitting out of semi and finding a nice big flintstone (not Fred) lying under it.

Maybe i'll ask the pro today and see if he's got any suggestions

I took a chunk out of my Ping i3 wedge a few years ago and with a bit of filing and polishing I flattened it out. It didn't look good but it looked better than having chunks of metal hanging off! You could do yourself a nasty with a sliver of Sand Wedge!!

Your pro could tidy it up, but it will still look damaged. My 9i has a chunk missing, which I took an oil stone to. No sharp edges now, but not as pretty as it used to be.

It is just an occupational hazard, but it plays heck with the resale value.

My old set I mangled the 7i when I accidentally hit a brick burried in some dead leaves.

The other day I was playing a matchplay and found my ball lying in a stone drainage half pipe thing beside a path (no free drop at my course) No need to say my 58' looks hideous now. :(:(:(
