Crooked house

Yep, red that the council were also looking into the demolition as apparently they hadn't had permission for that either. Hope they're made to rebuild it brick by brick.
Dodgy in spades on this one. As you say, sold to a developer, suspicious fire shortly after, access road blocked by someone dumping a pile of earth at the entrance stopping fire crews and then demolished quickfire without permission to try and destroy any evidence. Methinks someone is about to get their arse(s) felt for this one.

And the new owners apparently have previous for buy a pub and trying to convert it to flats quickly before the authorities find out.

😲
Is that a Scottish colloquialism? I think in the west Mids it would be their collars getting felt or their arses getting kicked.

I hate the Crooked House and everything about it. I'm glad they've flattened it. It's just a shame that they didn't use several pounds of C4 to blow most of it into orbit.

In completely unrelated news, the first time I ever met my ex-wife's father was in the Crooked House and he gave me the typical future father in law speech about hurting his little girl and what he would do if that happened.

*to date he hasn't followed through with any of his threats/promises from that day.

haven't ordered a digger recently, by chance?!

Reason why it was crooked was not because of its clients, but from subsidence due to mining.
All around is what I assume to be waste from the mines.
But an icon nevertheless. It was a jaw dropping experience just to stand outside the old pub.
No way can they rebuild it.
But does somebody target pubs?

Me and Missis T had a natter last night re buildings that have mysteriously gone up in flames around Mansfield. Last one being Savannah rags a few months back.
Me and Missis T were married the same day as the Bradford fire disaster. The owners have “ history” of being associated wiTh companies/ businesses that went up in flames.

A couple of my local football clubs I have frequented have also gone up in smoke.
Last week it was Hampton FC.

A few years ago it was Moor Green FC where the wooden stand burnt down in suspicious circumstances. The ground was soon sold off for housing.
They went to share with Solihull Borough who within a year claimed Moor Green's status as a Conference North side to become Solihull Moors.

PS. Hampton were founded by a Brentford fan and play in their colours.
Bob Davis (aka Jasper Carrott) originally used the clubhouse as a folk music centre called the Boggery.
Been inside that burnt out building several times.
